You should be. Well, you shouldn't be confused, you should realize that the person who said that either made a mistake, or isn't very bright.

My general view on currency is that Bitcon (or Dogecoin or some other sort of borderless currency that can be divisible to many decimal places and uses push transactions) is the most efficient outcome for the world economy and eventually that's where everything will be headed. There are a lot of obstacles to be overcome for that to happen... and it might take a while, but I expect that eventually we will get there.

Always cracked me up, the people that say we should live in a "cashless" society..
After Katrina, places only took cash because most debit and credit card systems were down... I always have cash stored around...

we should mint one very large coin, and just cut it to make smaller denominations if needed.
Just like they used to do in jolly 'ole England!

I'd ban them, and just have any company round up if it is 2.5 cents or above and round down if it is 2.49 cents or below. If you're using a credit card, then you can get specific with pennies. It would save us a shitload in the long term.
And while I'm at it, I'm changing the dollar bills as well. The fact that all our currency roughly looks the same is mind numbingly stupid. 1 dollar bills should be physically the smallest, then 5s would be smaller than 10s, and so on until we get I the Hundred dollar bill. Do you know how many people have given over the wrong bill in a transaction? Do you know how much easier it would be to get the right bill in your wallet? Why don't we do like almost every other country in the world does it? Do you know how much of a frick you our money is to blind people? Simply for their sake it should be changed.

You never use cash? I think everyone has to use it at least once a month for something.
I use cash/coin maybe 3-4 times a year. And usually it's for something that should easily be done via credit card/mobile device like a vending machine.
Cash needs to go the way of the paper check.

I kindly donate mine to the parking lot, and I have been since I was about 16.

The taxing authority loves pennies because that's where they hide. Marketers love pennies because by taking 1 off ($19.99) you somehow convince the customer that is less than $20 (which statistically, it is $20 even without taxes, shipping, etc.)
I don't see why 19.95 would be that big of a deal to them.

Pennies are inefficient uses of currency. They cost the government more money to make than they are worth. It cost 1.6 cents to make 1 cent
What do yall think?
Takes money to make money.

How often does something like this happen?
Cash is fine as a backup payment method, but there is no reason it should be used to the extent that it is this day and age.

Not often, but it does....
Cash was king after Katrina... Funny how quick people forget....
Cash doesn't leave a digital trail either....

It will be 10 years this August since Katrina and that's the most recent example you can come up with
I think I'll be fine the once every 10 years I need it. Good luck with all that cash in your mattress. I'd rather have my money invested and earning a return than sleep on it but to each his own.

I like to use pennies as a passive aggressive way to tip shitty waiters/waitresses

How would you handle paying for services? No tips for valet? Credit card machine for your the guys who cut your grass?
Prices would go up since now many places would have to declare their true income on taxes. Every barber I've ever had on took cash.
