NBC is running a Super Bowl ad that makes fun of those who are gluten-free. It implies that we're soft...we're weak...we're part of America's problem. When all we're trying to do is manage our disease. Celiac can be a true pain. The media is not helping and this petition is get NBC to see the light of day.
I think about all of the gluten-free children getting bullied for being "different", when all they want to do is feel better and fit in. I think about all of the people who have gotten sick at restaurants because the kitchen and/or the staff do not take us seriously. I think about all of those walking around undiagnosed and suffering because they only listen to what is in the media. I think about all of the people in the past who have died prematurely when going gluten-free MAY have been their saving grace.
This petition is for them.

They have a cool concept, a funny actor and a huge audience. They could have selected one out of 1,000 things that related to America being “soft” that would have still been humorous. But they chose gluten. Why?
You’d think I’d get used to these things, but each time hits me to the core. But after the Joy Behar calamity last week (which of course followed all of the other calamities our community has had to put up with), I wasn’t sure if I should even approach this ad, for a number of reasons.

well...people really do have Celiac disease
I very, very small percentage, but they do exist, so I would think it would suck for those people to get lumped in with the bullshite "gluten allergy" people

I get it, but they should attack those with the "gluten allergy" and hipsters trying to be cool, which is ironic considering their platform to be "uncool".

replace gluten allergy people with radical muslims and those with celiac disease with moderate muslims and we got a party
or
replace gluten allergy people with ratchet black people and thsoe with celiac disease with middle class black people and we got a rave

I truly, truly don't like the GF people. If someone really has Celiac disease, I have the utmost sympathy for them. It's not a fun disease, and GF food is pretty gross. But, 90% of people on that bandwagon are self-diagnosed, and they're really demeaning the people who have to live with Celiac. My ex boss was one of the idiots. She had a patch of eczema on her arm about the size of a quarter and decided it was from a "gluten intolerance" and went on the diet. So dumb. I guess if something good comes out of this stupid craze is that there are more food options for the people who really need it.

I know
I'm not trying to defend these idiots that get offended over everything

So frickin tired of everybody getting offended by something. I could probably find something every day that offends me, but who the shite would care? Hell, I don't even care. Never seriously considered getting a tattoo but if I did it would be a face tattoo that said, if I offend you, frick you.
This country is being ruled by a bunch of whiners!

If it suddenly became cool for people to use wheelchairs for BS reasons, I'd be really offended. But, the people who should be offended in this scenario aren't the outspoken ones.

Jesus Christ. I eat what I want, you eat what you want.
I've been gluten free for 4 years and have seen huge benefits from decreased muscle soreness, easier gym gains, and elimination of seasonal allergies.
I love it, but it's my choice.
I don't give a frick what you eat, you shouldn't give a frick what I eat.
Regarding "softness"...my gluten-free self would kick the dog shite out of my pre gluten-free self.

I know. Its sort of like the Fibromyalgia thing to me. There are people who have it, then there are people who claim to have that frick it up for everyone else.
