Come on, man. He just needed to take a piss at that exact moment. He couldn't hold it anymore. His prostate was ready to burst, so he needed to go into a room where they couldn't have cameras per privacy laws. He couldn't exactly leave the balls in the hallway. Maybe someone farted and the smell was so bad that balls deflated themselves. Luckily for that one ball, it was buried beneath the rest and didn't get deflated by funk.

Who knows what happened with the balls. However it is completely reasonable and normal that the guy went to pick up the balls. Then on his way out he thought to himself that he better take this opportunity to pee because he wouldn't have another opportunity for several hours. That's a far simpler explanation than some half cooked conspiracy theory.
It's borderline insane to jump down someone's throat for having to take care of basic human necessities.
I'm not even in the business of defending the Patriots. A part of me wants them to be found guilty because I'm curious how Goodell would react given his prior treatment of the Saints. I want him to be shown a hypocrite. But come on man. When nature calls, it calls.
