I feel like they likely totally whitewashed his character. He was much more fricked up--if not downright batshit crazy. And apparently he was not nearly as modest as the film makes him out to be(making up stories and whatnot).
yup.

I just find it a bit funny that Selma was given so much crap for dramatizing history in her film, but I haven't heard a peep about this movie, when the book has already been proven to be riddled with inaccuracies and outright lies
1) I feel like I've seen tons of stuff posted about the inaccuracies in American Sniper
2) Intentionally misrepresenting the character an American President in Selma to avoid any notions of there being a "white savior" in the Civil Rights movement is way different than recounting Chris Kyle's story based upon his own memoir. I don't think American Sniper lionized Kyle nearly as much as Selma slandered LBJ.

We were watching different movies then because AS completely lionizes him. Think about it. HE is the only one that can show those Marines how to go door to door. HE is the only one that could possibly take out amorphous enemy "bad" sniper dude. Considering that likely the majority of his kills are likely considered an enemy combatant based on his word and his word alone, I would damn sure hope he is truthful.

Don't mind the petty criticisms. Ever since this movie came out there have been some people microanalyzing every detail to find some way to tear the movie apart. Sure, like every movie, it has its flaws and inaccuracies, but overall is was a damn good film that succeeded in accomplishing what it set out to do. The silent theaters after each showing are a testament to that.
My guess is it was set out to be a tribute movie to this guy. Maybe some other stuff too?
I thought the movie was well done, it shows the effects of guys going overseas to fight for a long time. But as far as being entertained and enjoying the movie simply as a movie, it wasn't great in that part.
To put it simply, I never felt like Kyle was in true danger, other than the last part of the movie. They resolved conflict to fast and it never felt like that conflict could lead to destruction. (aka divorce, serious injury, death)

Yeah marines and 11b's should know how to go door to door to clear rooms. That's a basic training skill

I went to a mid-day showing last Friday. The theater was full. I've never experienced anything like that before in a theater. Completely silent... except for the numerous muted sobs in the audience.
I felt it was a powerful film. Perfect movie? No.
But it was one of the most powerful films I have ever been to see in a theater (or at home).
The silence by the full audience was just as powerful.

Good luck with that since we now know more than a few of his stories in his memoir are made up and good ole Jesse Ventura is gonna get paid off one of them.
I just couldn't get over the feeling of what was truth and what was lie in the movie. The guy told too many BS stories for me. If I step back and look at the movie as fiction, it was a good movie.

Good movie, not great. Nothing that stands out more than the other recent war films (Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty, Lone Survivor, etc). The ending credits with no music was a great touch in my opinion.

the shots where theyd show the planes crashing on 9/11 or the soldiers getting were killed were borderline comedy with the way theyd slowly zoom on cooper making angry eyes

When does your blockbuster movie go to wide scale release? I can't wait to see the perfection that your incredible mind can come up with. I heard you have Sally Struthers in the lead role?
Seriously, have you ever enjoyed a movie?

Have you seen Selma? There was no slandering of LBJ. There is documented proof he slow played civil rights in an effort to get his welfare program passed. The movie played that angle up for some dramatic effect. It was an exaggeration, but far from slander.

I enjoyed the movie, but I keep seeing this statement and it is funny to me. It's a theater....its going to be silent. Not to mention the ending leaves no reason for applause.

One would assume that a Navy Seal who has yet to deploy on his first tour standing there witnesssing a terrorist attack on our nation in real time would be one pissed off son of a bitch. I was sitting in English class in high school and I was pretty pissed off about it as was everyone around me. You dont think someone as highly trained as any SF guy awaiting deployment would be pretty worked up?

SPOILER (If you haven't seen it)
Why did he point the gun at his wife in the end before he left for the range with the troubled vet? Was that to somehow show that he could laugh at his own self for having been on the edge with his PTSD? I would never expect a vet like Kyle to do something like that, and I'm not sure why Cooper and Eastwood would send the character out like that....
Hell, I was half expecting a "BOOM!" flag to pop out of the damn thing, to be honest...
there is no way someone like him would walk around with his finger on the trigger and ever point a weapon, loaded or not, without the intention of pulling that trigger.
Loved the movie, but that part was horrible

The real tragedy in that scene is the 9/11 attacks and the Iraq War had nothing to do with each other. Sadly, many people will see this movie and continue to think the Iraq War was justified because of 9/11.

The silence at the end of the movie is somewhat a manipulated silence. There is no music playing as the credits roll, like there is in every other movie. If there were music playing (or any sound) during the credits, people would feel that is permissible to talk as they exit (the typical "great movie" comments, etc). But given the funeral scenes and silence coming from the movie, the crowd's reaction is more a continuation of that silence. It was manipulated to an extent.

Apart from the Ventura thing, which was accurate read the case files, what other inaccuracies are proven from it?
