It means "No Chest" basically.
Proper spelling is "Couth" pronounced COO-Th for you spelling nazis out there.

So if he isn't officially a coach at Texas A&M, how can he be legally recruiting? Isn't that a violation?
fair question

I say just leave it be. Much like refusing to grant a transfer request to a player, LSU's reputation can only be hurt by demanding the buy-out money. LSU should be seen as a place where coaches come from far and wide to be a part of not as a bitter, jilted lover. If Chavis doesn't want to be a part of LSU, then good-bye and good luck. Time to move on and look ahead to better things.
I agree, but what's the point of a buyout if it's not going to be enforced??

The supposed logic of these types of statements the last month or so continue to appear, but is rather baseless. Nothing precludes a team from recruiting great defensive players and pairing great D with any form of offense. LSU played ball control with limited scoring and it didn't help the D win games. Bama threw the ball a lot in 2014 and had a good D, and the O won them a lot of games. If Oregon actually recruited better defenders and had some quality depth they might have had a chance vs OSU. It is what you want to see.
I read through this entire post, and after each sentence I found myself saying "well that's just not true, in fact the opposite is true." It was like a work of art, congrats.

Easy to say when it is someone else's money. You probably work for the government.

It would really be a shame if hs defense got the score run up on them in Death Valley next year. I wouldn't mind a game like Arky in 2011

100% truth.

Why is one considered a Nazi for pointing out a misspelled word?

Actually, that's the definition for the adjective usage. You used it as a noun (which is fine, but if you're trying to show off, give the noun usage definition).

Buyouts aren't anything new. Everyone in the industry (coaches and universities) understand how they work. Nobody is going to look unfavorably at LSU for requiring Chavis to pay a buyout (assuming it's a clear cut issue).

Two things wrong with this: 1. We're short $400k, and $400k is a lot of money; it's about 7% of the total that the academic side got from the athletic department. 2.)It sets a precedent that coaches can flout their contracts, and LSU won't enforce it. It would encourage more of these shenanigans.
I know a lot of fans think LSU has an infinite supply of money, but that's not so. The football program has budgets and has to live within them.

Well with the exact same amount still owed to A&M from the early 90s for canceling the series, I expect payment in 25 years

You seem to be confused. Chavis owes the money...not A&M.

Again, I get that. Just confused that's it's ok for an institution to forgo paying a penalty and not a person.

A&M endowment: ~8 billion
LSU endowment: ~500 million
I think they can afford to toss us a couple hundred gs.

LSU wasn't in breach of contract. The contract said if one party broke contract, it needed to put forth a viable substitute team or pay damages. If I recall correctly, LSU got ULL to play the remainder of its contract with A&M. Therefore, LSU owed A&M nothing.
It's not our fault that a) you didn't like that the "inferior" team we found to replace us in the contract (you know, the ULL team that beat you in '96) and b) YOUR SCHOOL never pursued the matter.
Now, Chavis on the other hand, he did breach contract so he owes $400k. If I were he, I'd make A&M pony up that dough.

LSU isn't short anything. It's a conditional buy-out clause within a larger contract already paid out. In this case, we're talking about the difference of a few days here. Sure, LSU may be legally entitled to it, but you're fooling yourself if you think it won't appear petty within coaching circles.
