We just bought all Frigidaire Gallery appliances and love them. The stainless finish doesn't smudge at all.

Electrolux French door with sliding shelf $2400

I have a Samsung with the French Doors on top and drawer freezer on the bottom. It has an ice maker but not in the door. No water suspenser either..... all that shite breaks. My advice is to get the most basic model that would look good in your house.

I bought a Whirlpool about 3.5 years ago and I honestly doubt I will buy another Whirlpool fridge.
The ice machine is the root of the problem. It's mostly fine now but within a few months of purchase, I had to get someone look at it like 3 or 4 times. It was overfilling the ice trays with water which was spilling over into the ice bin which would freeze (obviously) and the piece that rotates to move the ice to the dispenser wouldn't turn.
I don't know that any other brand is any better but I intend on finding out when I've got to buy another fridge.

we've got this guy:
LINK
this was a new model about 18 months ago so you can probably get it for cheaper than MSRP on the LG website (3400)
its got a TON of storage
we've never had to try and figure out where to make more space
there's also 3 separate drawers in the freezer which is nice because you're not stacking shite up
also the ice machine makes ice quickly and its a large opening which works great for pitchers, i'll usually put beers in my soft ice chest and just stick the ice chest right in the slot to put ice in there.
I strongly recommend
also has an air purifier in case some food gets old, you never notice the smell
and the alarm for when the wife leaves the door open

$2k budget....at that price point they are all basically the same
Maytag, Kenmore, Whirlpool...all the same.
Not true, some brands have much higher failure rates than others.

CAD, you can get any good brand french door, bottom freezer fridge for that $2,000 budget. I got an LG for my new house with all that stuff, a separate smaller freezer drawer and the water/ice in the door for like $1700 at Costco during Black Friday.
Frigidaire and LG are some good brands. I think Kenmore is the Sears brand and even Samsung is getting into the mix. You really can't go wrong, it's a fridge.

i have a kenmore elite now that i'm leaving with the house (more than likely) which has been rock solid.
i just dont want to make a mistake this time around buying a brand that doesn't hold up as well.

In my first home I bought a Frigidaire that had the french doors and bottom freezer drawer. It has probably lasted close to five years now and it was a stainless steel model, so it still looks great.
Like I said, you really can't go wrong with LG or Frigidaire.

I just found out 2 things in my research:
A. Whirlpool patented the 'measured fill' feature which I love..set the amount of water you need in oz or cups and push a button to get that exact amount so that explains why 12 years after I bought a fridge with that feature..none of the new ones I'm looking at show that option.
B. The current Kenmore Elite fridge I own is clearly a Whirlpool model because it has that feature.
I see a whirlpool with EXACTLY what I want for around $1800 at sears. Why the hate on Whirlpool? I've not had any trouble out of my current fridge and I've owned it for 12 years.
This one has 447 reviews at Sears that seem positive.

We went with whirlpool, and are very pleased. I talked to a few people at Best Buy, Lowes, and Home Depot, and their advice was to stay away from Samsung (was told at one place that around 1 in 5 are returned). Try and go with something American, like Whirlpool, Kenmore, GE, etc because I was told if it comes to repairs, it is much easier to get parts and service as opposed to foreign brands like Samsung, LG, etc. Not quite sure why that would be an issue, but multiple people brought that up.
2 cents given.

Most modern appliances only seem to last 7-10 years nowadays
I had a GE fridge go out at 6 years old and I bought a Samsung french door model for 1800 last November
I like it a lot. It's got 2 ice makers, one in the freezer and one on the door.

Bought a GE side by side 25 cf in the color slate and is smudge proof. Didn't want stainless and husband insisted on smudge proof (I agreed) but many of them to me looked cheap but were super $$$. It wasn't worth it to me to pay more than we did. Really like it .. no issues other than it took a while to make enough ice and if we're going to have a LOT of people over, I'll need to buy ice but no biggie. Think it was $1400? at Lowes.
