I hope you are right concerning the quarterback situation...I will remain hopeful that the Tigers come through with a great season next year.

If you liked JJ you are in love with This season QB , Jennings makes JJ look almost good

The past is the best predictor of the future, so no, QB development does not have a bright future.

We will find out everything we need to decidedly determine with no doubt whether Miles can adjust. He needs to get in Cam's face and challenge him and he needs to have a "come to Jesus" meeting with Jennings and Harris. His has been saying for a long time the word "compete" and seems to have a much different definition of it than most. We want to see Harris CONTEND for the QB spot, not just compete for it. If we are mid season and Jennings is an under-performing Junior starting QB, the fan base will turn on Miles in a way never even thought of previously. Jennings must grow in a major way or Harris must learn the offense and learn good principles of discipline and be the QB. This is a MUST. If not, 1) Cam will be thought of as a loser and 2) Miles will enter the hot seat for the first real time in his tenure.

Since this is a bright outlook post, I am assuming that Jennings and/or Harris are truly developed by the time we got to Moo State, and if we get reasonable performance in the early-to-mid season timeframe, we are off to the races and will get this QB malaise behind us for the remainder of the Miles tenure.

If Jennings is the starter we 8-4 or worse , next year we have to out score folks to win IMHO .

Lee and jefferson for starters. But we've already gone down this road in this thread. Milee is also responsible for Mett getting here and developinging from '12 to '13. He also responsible for Flynn in 2007, unless you think Flynn did nothing for 2005 and 2006.

It's frankly a tired act. The idea is to eliminate the three best QBs during Miles' tenure because he didn't personally sign them to LSU out of high school.

Then Perrilloux is eliminated because, despite the obvious potential he displayed, he got kicked off the team.

Which leaves Miles with Lee, Jefferson, and Jennings during Miles' 10 year tenure. Three QBs, none of whom were among the Top 100 recruits in their class, and each of whom were named the starter prior to completing their second season in an LSU uniform.

Zach Lee and Gunner Kiel get chalked up to "shite happens" and the one making the argument feels pretty good about himself.

It is interesting that of the players that Miles has recruited right out of high school LSU has had drafted every position on the field (kickers excluded) except for quarterback and tight end.

Let's face it, Miles offensive philosophy and QB development, for the most part, doesn't deliver a QB prospect that is attractive to the NFL. I don't know why that is and maybe it's just been bad luck. I think it has more to do with Miles offensive philosophy, because, while we are short on QB prospects we have delivered more RB prospects than any SEC team in the last decade.

Every LSU starting QB under Miles has gotten at least a try-out with an NFL team. Every one.

Take your facts and get them right out of here. We don't develop anything ever.

Exactly.

ETA: Ok that was jerkish. Look man, i would love to be able to fist bump you on this, but you and I both know that it's been frustrating watching QB play since Miles has been here. I think Miles knows this and hopefully will course correct.....or just decide to run the single wing.

Lee showed some positive signs, but Miles refused to stick with him in 2010 and 2011 when he clearly was the better option (especially in 2010). Jefferson seemed to regress in 4 years.

Yes, Flynn developed he also had the benefit of Jimbo Fisher, who is one of the best in the business at developing QB's. Unfortunately, Mr. Fisher is no longer part of coaching staff.

Mett is the outlier. I think Cameron did some good things with him. However, Mett fit Camerons's mold, big drop back passer. Neither Harris nor Jennings fit this mold. Also, don't forget Mett put up crazy JUCO numbers and was rumored to be neck and neck with Murray as a Freshman.

So, no, I do not have any confidence that this staff can develop and use the QB's we have in our system effectively.

i believe miles feels a dual threat qb is more talented than a pro style qb, and that he can make a dual threat into a pro style..........

So you just make excuses for all the development that has happened and give Miles no credit. Got it.

OL should be better this year.

A good OL makes an average QB look great.

A QB can't run for his life on every down.
