I agree and hope Brandon becomes the leader we need. An effective QB would change our team dynamics drastically for the good, maybe great.

The Offense will improve we just have two young inexperienced QBs at the helm. The future is bright.

We all better hope he is.

Not gona take too much to be a drastic improvement over this years QB play.

Manziel, Winston, Murray, and Barrett were redshirted. I will give you credit, though. A true freshman can do just fine in conferences like the B1G and ACC.
Wow, you guys are going to hang with your "redshirt" argument until the cows come home.
My point is that freshman QBs WITH NO PLAYING EXPERIENCE can be extremely productive.
But you guys keep on saying that this productivity is only because they're "redshirt" freshman rather than true freshman. Yea, that's definitely the reason, not coaching or offensive scheme.

Are you saying that a full YEAR sitting behind someone else and learning would not be incredibly beneficial?
Why arent there more true freshman 'phenom's'? There's a BIG difference between the two.

Of course a year sitting learning can be helpful.
But my overall point is that it's NOT A REQUIREMENT that QBs have actual prior playing experience to be incredibly productive. Freshman, redshirt freshman, even older guys who've never taken significant snaps at QB (ex: Blake Sims, Cardale Jones) can be incredibly productive, given the right mix of talent and (gasp) coaching and scheme.

It would really take a lot of skill and effort to get any worse.

He NEEDS to be. Hate to hang that 'monkey' on his back, but his success will drive the team's success. LF can get 2000 yds, AKA Gordon/WISC, but that does not win every game. Balance, and a qb who can throw downfield when we need him to will be essential to our TEAM success.
I have seen some great posts that summarize Jennings to date - 13 games started, 15 games played in...NO tangible improvement. Nuff said...Harris, seize this opportunity young man and make your mark!
PS Coaches, you need to give Harris the opportunity.

All of that is moot if he never sees the field. How do you assess a player's improvement if he is standing on the sidelines and not playing?

Not one person has argued against this. Can Newton was extremely productive. But when you attempt to apply this argument to Brandon Harris, or any TRUE freshman, you fall short.
Talent and Coaching are inversely proportional. The more you have of one, the less you need of the other. This is why extremely talented players like Manziel and Winston can win a Heisman as redshirt freshmen, and extremely limited QBs like Jarrett Lee and Blake Sims can win the SEC as redshirt seniors.

CFB games last for 1 hour per week. CFB practices last for 20.

Too bad Harris won't see the field until his senior year.

LSU certainly needs that to be the case !!!
