I'm pretty sure that's what it implies
And if not, it's probably a bunch of people making 30-40k and then the people making 150-250k that went off on their own without finishing liscensing. There's no way there's only a 5k difference between B.A./FE/PE Engineers and "Engineers"

Is someone who works in the oilfield or a refinery whose title is "engineer" actually an engineer?
How do professional engineers out there feel about the loose usage of the term engineer?

Those people aren't even really in the engineering field, so I doubt they were used in the study
Hell, I know lots of project engineers who aren't even engineers technically

Were you not trying to say that the survey is comparing non schooled engineers to schooled engineers?
That isn't what that survey is saying. I'm pretty sure it's comparing FE/EIT to PE or else that title wouldn't make sense

Doesn't matter to me.
Every engineer today, was called an engineer before getting (if they ever did) get their PE.

As a registered PE, I don't really care who calls themselves an engineer. Anyone who is going to pay my salary or consulting fees know the difference.
On that note, the PE designation is not an indicator of excellence - just competence and the motivation to jump through hoops and get licensed.

Shows you know nothing of a refinery and what they classify as an engineer, and shows more that you just want to stir shite up with oil jobs.

PE is just the CPA of engineering doesn't mean not having one doesn't make you an engineer or accountant.

I know a few PE's that make me wonder how the hell they got licensed

Exactly, engineering by nature doesn't give a shite about semantics.

I agree, it proves that they are good at taking test...
Should we discuss PMP certification while we're at it??

They proved they could regurgitate information from a book for a test, nothing more or less.
