Pretty good chance..

On the X-ray testing note, we have 14 different contractors on site and they can't keep up with production stainless and alloy welds.
Posted on 1/13/15 at 6:22 pm to Bushmaster
Whoa. I just have a few guys who build them out of urethane foam and fiberglass. They always have work.

I guess she's talking about the mud duck sister.
Posted on 1/13/15 at 6:25 pm to glassman
These guys have about 100 X-ray truck rigs on site and still can't keep up. It's a big bottleneck on site as we have to get all of those welds shot before releasing the pipe systems to hydro or pneumatic testing

US Steel just laid off 600 workers last week because the demand for pipe has gone down.

Tough times don't last, tough people do. You have done nothing but bitch about this in every thread I have seen regarding it. Were you one to lose a job today?
As someone else said, every other industry doesn't feel bad for you cause they have been there. I didn't see anybody giving two shits about all my friends and their families who lost jobs when the aviation industry was tanking. I'm sure you thought, "all those Kansan's, who gives a shite".

I'm not so sure. I hope so, but we've been monitoring activity in south Louisiana for the last few months and drilling activity has really tapered off
I'm not referring to inland drilling. Inland transportation.

Day rates are starting to drop anywhere from $300-$900/day. That's huge.

if you were really paying attention you would know it's just about impossible for me to lose my job. But thanks for asking.

I hear it's been a brutal holidays for landmen in lafayette. Allegedly 200-300 cut since Christmas which sucks.
Like someone mentioned, onshore rig rates are plummeting which is nice for operators.

No one is safe. How old is he? A severance package is cheaper in the long run than paying salary, benefits and bonuses. You think a French based company gives a shite?

Hey, bud. My good friend Juan lost his job at the McDonalds today. Boss just couldn't afford to keep him. If you and all your O&G buddies are willing to pay $2 more on your next 20 orders, you can pay his salary for years to come. I'm asking because you seem like you'd understand and be sympathetic to his predicament. Let me know. Thanks.

Anybody know anybody that was affected? How about people working in other oilfield services and related companies? Seems like tough times for folks the O&G industry. Folks are saying cuts are turning out to be worse than the 2008 down turn.
Impossible, everyone "in the know" on these topics lately have repeatedly said that this is just a blip on the radar and nothing to worry about

He's in probably the most valuable and important down hole department in North America for the company. As a matter of fact he recieved a promotion on the first of the year. He's safe.

In even better news, I will be all over craigslist and ebay looking for a fully loaded duck boat with a mud motor in the coming weeks. I can now afford to drive 1100 miles to pick it up and not give 2 shits about how much it takes to fill the truck up to use the thing. Look at that!
