A large part of it is the work ethic between the two cities. Baton Rouge is a government town with government work ethic mentality. The work ethic is why people in New Orleans, Lafayette, & Houma don't like Baton Rouge because they actually work for a living instead of living off the government tit.
Is this sarcasm? Please tell me it's sarcasm.
Government work ethic?

Yep, that's what New Orleans residents are known for, their work ethic.

I like Baton Rouge and NOLA. Lafayette is all right as well.

Asians are pretty much everywhere.

Reading again, I'm confused as to who he's blasting here.
Is he saying Baton Rougeans work harder because people in government work harder? Because that's laughable
Or is he saying New Orleanians work harder because they're not in government? That's equally as laughable. NOLA's two most known nicknames are "The Big Easy" and "The City That Care Forgot."

The second one, and yes, it's laughable

If you swapped the residents of Baton Rouge with the residents of Alexandria, no one would notice the difference.

I'm from BR and just got away a year and a half ago, and while our new town leave a some things to be desired, you couldn't pay me to move back to BR. Post Katrina BR is a shithole and seems to get worse every time I visit. It makes me sad because it really was a good little town to grow up on once upon a time.

I grew up in br . It was kinda cool as a kid but now its shitty . Half the reason is the school system . Does any other city have such a segregated shitty system . I never got to meet private school people

Idk. I know I wouldn't send my dog to most public schools there. Most are like a war zone. Very sad to see. I think there is a lot of racial tension, moreso than in NO. And beyond the racial issue, there's a lot of struggle between the haves and the have nots. But that seems to be everywhere now.

Yes. New Orleans, Memphis, Atlanta, Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, and Camden.

Why has growth become the #1 indicator for how good a place is?

BR has an AIDS problem in the shitty ghettos, albeit, as does NO.

I agree with this. The "high society" crowd in both towns makes me laugh.

So, the more businesses and families, the better a place is?

It's definitely not due to lack of culture. BR has plenty of that

Both have pros and cons. Lived in BR for 7 years. One thing I won't miss is that traffic. Kill me if I'm on Essen Ln between 3-5pm. I like BR's suburbs better. Nightlife there sucks. Food sucks, but the area is cleaner. Living in NOLA I'm 10 min away from good saltwater fishing. I'd rather be tailgating on Saturday's in BR than Sunday's by the dome. I'd rather raise a family on the northshore rather than either city.
