As of yesterday the appearance was we were getting turned down by everyone and being used as raise bait. That's on Les and LSU, not Hanagriff.

The only people that have had that impression all along are the tards on this board. Anyone with common sense knows not to rush an important hire, especially of this magnitude, when there is no need to. We are in a dead period for recruiting. What exactly is the rush? I am so thankful Les is handling this hire as opposed to some of you tards.

I'm pretty sure he's doing his due diligence and playing his cards close to his vest. I'm no Les hater, but come the frick on.

McDermott is the most realistic and he's a longshot IMO. Del Rio is interviewing for HC gigs. Capers hasn't been in college in 30 years. Pees has enough NFL experience that I don't see him coming here.

Of those 4 pick two, mine are Pees since Cam was at Baltimore and Les is mighty close with their head coach. And my second is Jack Del Rio, just because.

The entire Shoop saga made it look like LSU was being used.

Dave Campo almost makes sense. His resume is remarkable and was secondary coach at Miami when Orgeron was a GA. Coached alongside Miles in Dallas. He's currently making $500,000 a year at Kansas.

how was LSU used, when they never offered him the job? they had other candidates to speak with, after shoop.

Pees and Nolan I guess.

JDR ain't happening. I would like it, but he's getting NFL HC looks. Even if he doesn't get a gig I think he'll stay in Denver at least another year and end up the boss somewhere after that.

Capers is just an NFL guy. I'm meh on him and Pees.

Nolan would be solid but it isn't happening.

He has been NFL since Boston was a legit band.
His dad was an NFL guy.
He's getting NFL interviews.

We got Cam. UGA got Schottenheimer. ND had Weis.

Other than that, you don't see a bunch of guys coming to college from the NFL. Cam knew Les. Schotty is young...why not come to college and learn for the future of the NFL. Weis was an OC and got a HUGE college HC gig.

the only name that seems to fit all this, and the "talk of the college football world" part, to me, is McDermott. and I've managed to talk myself into that for a few reasons:

- he was apparently a candidate for the DC job in '08 after Pelini left, so hopefully he and Miles have stayed in touch since.

- he's 40, and maybe he'd rather be someone like patterson or saban or meyer than belichik. he came up under andy reid, and maybe he doesnt want to have a family life as fricked up as reids. no one is gonna hand an NFL assistant a top 10 college team, but LSU would be ideal for him. Miles has been here a decade now, McDermott could be the DC and then take over when Miles is done.

- obviously its uncommon to go from the NFL for the same job in college, but... harbaugh

This was my thought as well. Maybe the guy just wants a change of scenery. Its the only explanation, if he is the guy. Big IF.

Great opportunity. Rich tradition, central to the most talent rich parts of the country and a raise.

Bama was an upgrade for Saban.

Yes that is who it is, Mike Trgovac, and move Haley to lb coach. If you look past the name, he has a good resume. Michigan man.

Technically, Mike coached under Arnsparger, though Archer was the DC in '86. I've said all along, he'd be a great hire, being a well respected DC, and former NFL HC.
