'Cop killer'? Damn. I'd say let him go, but if he's a COP killer he deserves to be boiled alive in oil.

This guy was a Vietnam vet with major PTSD and was off his meds.
This is such a bullshite fricking line. You can blackout or wake up from a nightmare that you're acting out, sure but blaming you being a homicidal maniac on PTS is bullshite.
Myself and many of the guys from my units have PTS and you know how many times we shot or stabbed or rampages on people?
None.
People with PTS hurt themselves bc they hate the fact they're alive. It's a bullshite cop out.

I honestly don't believe the outcome would have been the same today. Officers are trained better because of incidents just like this one.
Hell no this wouldn't happen like that today. He would have been told to stay in his car. If not shite would have gone down way differently.
Police would have seen the rifle and the guy would have been dead if he made a wrong move.

People in Law Enforcement have seen this film at Officer Safety Classes for years and know the entire story inside and out. People on this board have asked why Deputy Dinkheller gave this a-hole so much of an advantage and didn't shoot him sooner. Well you see ladies and gentlemen, Deputy Dinkheller had earlier has his arse chewed out by his supervisor and had been told that he was facing an official reprimanded because there had been a complaint made by a citizen that Deputy Dinkheller had drawn his gun on a traffic stop a few days earlier.

I saw that video and it was a tough thing to watch. The deputy should have smoked Brannan's arse after the second command to put down the weapon. I'm glad the jury didn't buy the PTSD bullshite.

It happened to one of my best friends. One of the cops that shot him was a friend of his, but he gave them no choice. Sad situation all around.

I'm good with you dying once. But why? What do you know about his story?

Had the deputy acted first with either the baton or his weapon, he'd be crucified in the media for beating down a helpless Vietnam vet. Sad story. Glad this POS has been put down.

Never knew about this until now. I like to occasionally challenge my own existing views on things like capital punishment. I've typically supported as a legit form of justice.
I read the initial (sensational) headlines about him being a vet and tried to ask myself if it was necessary/just. Like I said, trying to contemplate my views so they can evolve if necessary.
Then I watched the YouTube video of the incident.
and I can't say I've been more proud to live in a state that has the balls to exterminate scum like Andrew Brannon.

Interesting events that led up to that incident where it appears the officer was hesitant to engage.
"This video is used in training to demonstrate the failure to act in the face of danger. What the instructors don’t normally tell you are the events leading up to that tragic encounter. Deputy Dinkheller was reprimanded by his superiors prior to that fateful traffic stop. The reprimand was in reference to Deputy Dinkheller acting too aggressively during a previous encounter in which he drew his service weapon. From all accounts, the counseling session by his supervisor did not end with a constructive lesson. This negative experience apparently had a devastating impact on the deputy’s thought process when it came to the application of force concepts."

even as someone who is against capital punishment, I still have little sympathy for those who are executed
And the disgusting nature of his defense attorney to basically pin the murder on the US

I'm glad to see him dead. Now if only we could see the same thing happen, quickly, to these scum bags killing children such as John Jonchuck. Kill him immediately.
