Both are about the same. But most people's impression of Dallas is based on visiting Uptown Dallas, Park Cities area and the northern burbs. Most people in Dallas don't like those people either.

Dallas.

Houston has great people but more thugs than Dallas. You're more likely to get your car jacked in Houston.

Between those two cities... Houston. Dallas has an upper middle class that is insanely pretentious. The pretentiousness of Flower Mound and the NE suburbs of Dallas is greater than the pretentiousness of Cinco Ranch and The Woodlands.

Plus, as others have stated, most of the Mexicans are pretty cool (except for the drug dealers).

However... by far the nicest people in Texas reside in Ft. Worth.

You consider forth worth with Dallas like you would New Orleans with meterie.

Houston, Katy, Pasadena baytown, etc. they all claim Houston.

Dallas. The longer distance from Baton Rogue, makes the overall population better.

People suck in both places. Austin and San Antonio are better

I don't know. Everyone I know from Ft. Worth considered themselves a separate area, and they hated the Metroplex label (and really hated the North Texas label).

Also, one of the professional societies I belonged to when I lived in Texas, has seperate chapters for Dallas and Ft. Worth. They only have one for Houston. And the LA equivalent has two for New Orleans - one for the south shore and one for the north shore.

Dallas and FW are different. FW still plays up the cowboy schtick/ small town thing and is politically uber conservative. Dallas is a liberal bastion in sea of suburban red and builds huge, over priced, ugly monuments to itself to prop up its claim to world class city status.....which it is far from being.
