ESPN.com named him the top assistant coach in Big 12 in February 2014 and Rivals.com named him top recruiter in the Big 12 in 2013.

Four of his five OU defenses finished seventh or better nationally in scoring defense and in the top 10 for total defense from 1999-03.

StoOps about to be run off by his own brother. Let that sink in.

How have his defenses ranked nationally every year he has been a DC?

He was Co-DC with Venables. Does that name ring a bell?

All I want is for someone to explain to me why he would be such a horrible, disastrous hire. I haven't closely followed his career. I know he didn't do hot as HC at Arizona. But why would he be such a terrible hire for DC here? Anyone?

Your program's two finest moments: a meaningless Cotton Bowl win and hiring away Chavis.

Surely it's just a negotiating ploy to get who we really want as they are probably interviewing more than just him. IMO Stoops would not be a better hire than Shoops or Pendergast

Mike Stoops called. He says he still has nightmares about that Cotton Bowl.
