What say the OT truck experts?
I just finished reading an extensive article last night that included the Dodge diesel. It confirmed all the bits and pieces I had been hearing .. mostly about the F150. Forget Tundra if you are interested in MPG. Forget Dodge for a number of reasons. MPG was great but all else sucked. Chev 5.3 vs Ford 2.7 turbo is apples vs oranges comparison except for MPG. For 2015 Chev has thrown some newer technology at an old school vehicle. Mostly tried but true. The F150 looks a little like the 2014 model. That's about it. The larger engines are the same, maybe the rearend and some suspension. It's a radical change that will either go down in history as the most major advancement in trucks ever or the biggest flop. There is no real choice between the 2 you asked about. You decide by brand or technology = decision made.
While I'm a fan of the GMC I have leaned toward Ford lately. I would not buy a 2015 truck... period. I'd wait to see if GM ups there game or the Ford changes pay off.
For those diesel lovers, if your truck is a DD you should consider the price of diesel AND the extra cost of the engine before purchase. While the extra MPG may offset the price of the fuel it will never offset the cost of the engine even when considering trade in value of a light duty truck.

Those old power wagons are great looking trucks.

The math on the dodge Eco diesel puts the break even point somewhere around 150-200k miles I believe
If you want a diesel to have a diesel, that's fine. But buying it to save money isn't quite gonna work out that well

I do not like the front of the 2015 Ford F-150 - looks too much like a Toyota.

I prefer the Sierra to the Silverado.
I have had horrible luck with Ford products, great luck with Toyota and GM trucks.
I actually really like the new Tundra and Sierra a lot.

I just traded in an 09 Sierra for a 14 Silverado. I love it. I average 20 mpg, it drives like a Cadillac, does great off road. Best truck I've ever had. (I have owned a F150 too, but never a dodge ).

I have a 14 Sierra and so far I love the truck. It rides like a caddy and the gas milage is great.

Why would you pick the Chevy 6.2 vs. The ford big v8?

More hp, more tq, better gas mileage, new 8 speed transmission

Because fords biggest V8 is the 5.0.

Did they do away with the 6.2 for 2015?
Posted on 1/3/15 at 4:24 pm to CaptainsWafer
I think so. Either it's gone, or available in the F250/350/450 only.

There's a reason the F-150 has been the number one selling truck and overall vehicle for over 20 years. Ford makes a superior truck period.
