No. He's tall and big and that's about it. I was excited to see they drafted a 6'3" corner in the second and looked up his scouting report. He's not fast. He's not quick. He has slow hips. He's a converted WR with very little coverage experience, and if I remember right not much instinct.
Everything about the scouting reports said "wtf did they draft that guy in the second."

He actually did pretty well in the cone drills for his size.

Yep it's pretty stupid to hate on the guy when we don't have a clue about what's going on. He wasn't a reach and looked like a solid pick-up to anyone. I still don't get the FO strategy on this one tho.

His combine stats and measurables are basically equivalent to Richard sherman give or take in a few categories. They were trying to draft richard sherman because they got dominated by him.
6-3, 32.375 reach, 218 lbs
4.61 SEC 40yd
13 REPS
41.5 INCH vert
128.0 INCH broad jump
4.33 SEC 20yd shuttle
6-3, 32 reach, 195 lbs
4.56 SEC 40yd
16 REPS
38.0 INCH vert
125.0 INCH broad jump
4.33 SEC 20yd shuttle
Who is who you think?
ETA: the problem is that they forgot the fact that scheme and coaching matters......alot

I want to see the dude play. It seems he is putting the time in, so I want to see what he has retained.
You'll see him play a little next pre-season...before he is cut.

Payton can't draft worth a frick. He lucked out in 2006 and since has done nothing. Big reason why we have regressed the last 3 years. You can only live off a draft class for so long.

Put him back at WR.
frick!

Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska Height: 6-3.
Weight: 218.
40 Time: 4.61.
Projected Round (2014): 2-3. 5/5/14:
Jean-Baptiste fits the mold of the big corners who are becoming the rage in the NFL. He used the Senior Bowl to answer some questions since many wondered if Jean-Baptiste had the movement skills to stay cornerback or would he have to be moved to safety. Jean-Baptiste proved in Mobile that he does; he showed the potential to be more than a press-man cover. Jean-Baptiste illustrated the quickness and agility to play some off-man and zone coverage at the Senior Bowl. He was solid at the Combine. If Jean-Baptiste can't stay at corner in the NFL, he could be moved to safety.
Jean-Baptiste had four interceptions with 12 passes batted and 41 tackles in 2013. His performance at the Senior Bowl shows that he is worthy of second-day consideration.
Personal: Graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice.
Son of Pierre and Yanick Jean-Baptiste. Stanely Jean-Baptiste has participated in charity work.

The article said Rob Ryan wanted to use this year to get him acclimated, and it seems like that's what we're doing. Sure. I'd like to see him play, but whatever. He can play next year. I hope he starts next year. Let's give it time and see what develops.

Vincent Jackson isn't slow at all.

By NFL standards, he's slow.

Pretty sure this is what I remember reading about him. :-/

Weaknesses
Has relatively small hands. Not especially strong for his size. Stiff hips. Is not a quick-twitch athlete and struggles to mirror sudden receivers. Lacks elite top-end speed (long-strider). Green positional instincts. Picks and chooses his spots to be physical -- inconsistent run defender. Has tweener traits. Football aptitude is lacking -- could struggle to grasp and execute complex assignments. Will be a 24-year-old rookie.

this reminds me of 2012. Our players are idiots, keep it simple stupid and you get what 2013 was.

If he can contribute at all next season as a nickel guy and we get a vet CB to go opposite Lewis while he develops another year or two, I think he'll be a good player for us at a high position of need.

You are probably right, but I can't believe he's worse than Corey white

I've been trying not to get involved with all the talk about this guy this year. I understand how people feel with the whole Dixon playing ahead of him (how can you say that Rookie CBs have to have time to learn if a UDFA CB is playing over a 2nd rounder?) but it's a bit of a different situation. The whole deal with SJB from the start has been project. He was not a plug and play guy. But he has the POTENTIAL to be good, which is why his price tag was so high. High ceiling. Dixon doesn't have that, but Dixon has played corner his entire life, and played in a system similar to ours in college. Of course he's more prepared to play.
Its almost laughable that all these fools are posting about SJB being cut. Not gonna happen. It doesn't matter how terrible he looks, they aren't going to cut a 2nd rounder less than 2 full seasons after drafting him.
IMO this guy is going to end up like Ingram to our fan base. So much (mostly unnecessary) hate on him until one day he produces. Then suddenly, he's the fricking messiah!
Chill out guys. I trust them to develop this guy.

I like the optimism but looking at the facts it doesn't look good for this dude. He was inactive an entire season without injury while guys like you said Dixon played. He's not even playing when it doesn't even matter if the team wins/loses at this point. It doesn't matter how you slice it this isn't a positive. They're not burning redshirts. This isn't college. You have absolutely no reason to let a "project" CB sit on the bench when you have none as it is in a meaningless game. How's he going to learn anything riding the pine? That tells you how far off he is. He's not even good enough to put on the field in the NFL and Dixon is. That's sad.
This dude is not a QB. You're not assraping him mentally by making him get beat on the field. If he's that fragile then he was going to get cut anyway because you're going to get beat a lot at CB no matter how good you are.

I get Payton's done a crap job this year but that statement is a joke. The drafts are on Loomis and the scouts. Payton has limited input on the draft. He plays with the cards he's dealt. If you wanna call him a crappy playcaller go ahead but this is not his hand picked team
