The biggest problem will be the area. Houma/Thib people like their bud, miller and mich ultra. They don't really go for the craft beer.
That said, craft beer is trendy right now so they may just on for a little while but then go back to piss water.

I was hoping for more cinnamon from the King Cake. I think they will do well. Ppl in the area have supported Which Craft well. They had over 50 ppl last night for Monday night football.
I also think it may take a few batches to work out the kinks with the beer. Getting used to the new equipment and what not.
They should have their Pelican Pilsner in a week or two.

I've had a few of their beers over the years at Tbois. I remember the king cake beer creating a lot of interest one year.

I would want to get those kinks worked out before sending beer out in the market...

What's the scoop with this place?
Travel to Thib's quite a bit, will have to check it out.
Anybody know the history, owners, brew master background, etc.?

King Cake Ale (minus sugar rim) Cafe Au Lait, and the Intercoastal IPA. This weekend the Pelican Pilsner should be ready.
What's with the cheesy names? Figured Abita and Nola had that market cornered.

Something I never thought I would hear about a beer.

Maybe one is brewed with king cake spices and the other is a coffee milk stout?
Should it just be Mudbug Ale with king cake soices? Or Mudbug Coffee Milk Stout? There's nothing objectionable about those names.

I think Pelican Pilsner and Intercoastal IPA are awesome names. What's wrong with naming beers after things that are part of the areas culture ?
NBD: more funk. Hard to drink anything after this.

Nah, one or two are fine. But does every beer need to be a play off something cajun or bayou. I mean, you're already called Mudbugs as it is

Well they coonasses brah. You probably wouldn't like the brewers band either.

Was this at the WYES VIP tasting a few years back?
Someone had a weird beer like that where they put the sugar on your glass and poured the beer.
Pissed me off because it messed up my tasting for the rest of the evening.

Brewer used to be a science professor at Nichols I know that

I'm excited for them. The brewer is a former botany professor at Nicholls. The other other owners - one is a neurosurgeon and the other is a banker. I know the banker the best of all 3. The beer is good - at least for my taste and I've had them a few times. I know that Crescent Crown is buying every drop they desire to sell, so I expect to see it on tap in this market very soon. Yes - Houma Thib is very much Bud Light territory, but there is room for Mudbug for sure. They are most welcomed in this area and I think will have a lot of success - similar to Parish, etc. For what it's worth, I love Cane Brake. I also love Parish's LA 31 and Biere Noir. I'm just getting started with beers, so I have yet to refine my snobbery.
There will be a new brew-pub coming to Houma soon, too. One of the Lebouef Bros Towing guys is rumored to be opening one in downtown soon. Houma/Thib is growing up!
