It'll be interesting at the January meeting. A lot of storylines. St. Aug and Shaw are back to 4A. Notre Dame, Evangel, and Curtis are 2A. Calvary drops down to 1A. Will there be a play up in class? 6A? Will an all-sport split happen and the privates split making this a moot point?

Massive bluff that will never happen.

So let me get this straight. They're proposing a 1.5 multiplier for private schools, a 6A that will be the top 32 schools by enrollment, plus any school that wants to play up?

crazy Rummel only has 600 kids

So they double that since it's all male? Would new proposal mean 600 x 2 x 1.5? Geez

Interesting that there is no "magic number" for the cut off between classes.. only a set number of teams. I guess it prevents schools from manipulating their numbers for athletic purposes, to an extent.
ETA: Is that how it has always worked? Forgive my ignorance.

I guess you don't realize it almost already happened last year. Trust me, those principals weren't voluntarily meeting to tell old stories, they were seriously discussing the matter. No matter what happens though, LA football will be weakened.

Yeah.. from what I hear, they have really struggled with enrollment lately. I wonder why that is?

What class is Redemptorist in now with an enrollment of 0?

The Charter bubble is taking the kids.

Have you seen the cost of catholic school tuition lately?
Posted on 12/21/14 at 8:26 pm to JS87
Tuition is only around 7-9k depending on what school, so really not that much, with Jesuit being the cheapest of the Catholics. The issue is more options now than ever before for good free education. The middle class folks in Jefferson and Orleans are turning to free education from the public funded private schools called charters. They can take who they want and those kids go for free. The pool of potential students for the catholic league has been hit hard, but it only manifests itself at the schools not named Jesuit or BM. Those two schools will always have enough kids applying to take who they need to fill the school and still turn kids aways. The other schools are grasping at whoever they can get. It's pretty bleak at Shaw, Rummel, and St. Aug. Holy Cross is gaining kids, but they are in the same boat as the other three. They aren't turning many kids away.

Yeah, I'm sure that's all the kids that Curtis could get - the same enrollment as Many, Homer, and Loreauville. fricking chickenshit pussies.

And the out of left field comment of the day goes to....
ETA: Curtis has always had around 2A enrollment, not sure why you are so angry.

In his eyes every private school should have 5A enrollment. How dare a school only take enough students to fill every single classroom.

Oh nothing. Just noticed that they moved up to 3a last year and suddenly want to run back down to the less populated schools after not winning a state title, much like how they ran back down to 2a after Salmen punched them in the mouth in the 90s.

Oh, I got you now. You just have an uneducated opinion. They had 2A enrollment last two years as well. They played up in 3A.

St. Aug is getting crushed by BM and HC right now. With them losing their 6th and 7th grade, I'm not sure if they'll ever get back up to 5A.
They have a solid, proud alumni base so I doubt they'll ever close, but they'll never be what they once were.
