she's not even remotely clever enough to take on Rand, who doesn't even have to be breathing to defend herself from that moron.

big Ayn Rand fan here..i thought some of these were pretty funny except the ones about the cats. i don't get that. Did i miss her being obsessed with cats in one of her novels/

Ayn Rand wrote a letter about cats to a cat magazine
That's saying a lot because Ayn Rand, while imaginative, was not very clever.

Cool stuff.
Didn't know about her like of cats.
That said, the writer, I think, is missing what she means by "objectively".
When Rand talks about it in this vein, what I get is that she is saying, "clearly, the cats have value to HER". And, that jibes wholly with her philosophy that a person should act based upon what they value rather than what others value.
She doesn't mean that "objectively" cats have value to everyone because they have value to her.
Sometimes, it's obvious to me that people have very little grasp of what Rand REALLY thinks. I suspect if we spoke to her about cats and said we don't think they have value(I hate em), she'd say "fine, then you shouldn't own won and moreover, I shouldn't be able to make you help me own one".

It makes sense that she liked cats. Cats are more self reliant than dogs. My dogs love the welfare state.

It's a humor piece. I wouldn't read too much into it. If you found it funny, fine. If you didn't, fine.

I'm not a fan of Rand but thought it was a pretty funny piece.
Did not know about her obsession with cats though, but it makes sense that Rand would be a cat lady.

one letter. she wrote one tongue-in-cheek letter about 'objective interest in cats' on a survey from 'cat fancy' and the writer of this humor piece incorporates that into multiple responses.
that falls flat.
what about the letter she wrote to Mr. Neiman (of Neiman Marcus) telling him she didn't have time to decorate the egg he sent her so should she return it to him blank?
or the one asking her to endorse Lyndon Johnson where she replies 'i think you've missed something fundamental about what i believe'

That cat letter screamed humor to me. Funny? Nah. But, I could see writing the same sort of thing. What? Do people think she didn't know why the Cat Fancy folks asked her the question?

she was making a play on 'is your interest in cats purely objective?'
c'mon.
c'mon.

Cats are objectively filthy animals.

our cat is pretty damn clean. we don't even have a litter box because she goes outside.
now my german shepard mix..he's a disaster. half the time he comes into the house smelling like arse because he's decided to make a meal out of some old shite of his he found in the backyard.

Cats are, generally speaking, very clean.
I love both cats and dogs, though.

I found some of them funny. Also didn't get the bit about cats and she used it too many times.

I'll pass.
After giving it a lot of thought, I don't think Ayn Rand's philosophy is sound. If your best response to her detractors is to convince yourself that we're all idiots, then your reasons for agreeing with her philosophy are probably not as good as you think they are.

of course not, because it demonstrates what frauds the despicable scum politicians are that you hold up so near and dear, those that hate individual determination and achievement, because it exposes them as frauds..
if being led around by the nose by Dems is your lot if life it's a sad life you live, but at least you can fall back on being too inept to understand how mislead you are, unless you prefer to be known as the lying scum that D politicians are known to be.
