My question is what part of the process do you take offense to? Was going to the grand jury a bad idea? What were the prosecutions options after the grand jury returned a no true bill? What should have happened?

I will answer with a question. Do you believe the prosecutor could have obtained an indictment in this case if he/she desired?

De Blasio is fricking toast. Liberalism in Full Bloom-here is your fricking Mayor. You undermine the Rule of Law at every turn. You fricking celebrate black criminality to the point that it is almost fetish and demonize law enforcement accordingly and then pretend that Liberalism has nothing to do with it. You fricking condone violence and property damage and make every excuse known to man for pathological criminal behavior and then you have the fricking AUDACITY to act surprised when the inevitable happens.
I thought that the individual and only the individual was responsible for his own actions.
Or so the various debates on this board about things like, say, gun control have led me to believe.

My limited knowledge of the grand jury process is for the most part they rubber stamp whatever the prosecutor brings to them. So a reasonable person would have to believe the the DA wasn't really interested in pursuing charges and went to them so he could shift responsibility

Ok. So a special prosecutor would fix this? Is that the solution?
And why would your only conclusion for a reasonable person be a prosecutor acting in a nefarious manner? Is it impossible for you to consider a reasonable person could conclude based upon the evidence that there was not reasonable cause to believe a felony had been committed?

Absolutely....if a prosecutor was desiring an indictment he/she could have convinced the grand jury. Is it your assertion the prosecutor is racist? Was acting in a nefarious manner?

quote:Yes. Yes, we should.
We should consider how the NYPD defines chokeholds.
quote:The NYPD defines what occurred in the video as an "approved takedown maneuver". Not a chokehold.
The NYPD defines a chokehold as any pressure to the throat or windpipe which may hinder intake of air.
That's it. It doesn't have to occlude anything. It only has to hinder breathing.
PERIOD.

Not saying the prosecutor acted inappropriately maybe he didn't present the case with as much enthusiasm as he would in a civilian case. I've also seen grand juries bring charges in some pretty sketchy cases, hence the rubber stamp comment

Now there's a surprise NYPD took a look at the video and said nothing to see here folks that's a perfectly legal chokeho er takedown maneuver
Posted on 12/21/14 at 11:40 am to NC_Tigah
Lol. The NYPD has not made a statement regarding the appropriateness of it, to my knowledge. The union has. Which is completely different.

Did Garner say "I can't breath"?
Did he say it 10-11 times?

It is understandable the white, affluent male is a little worried right now. They sense a social sea change in this country that is not an advantage or benefit to them.
Not worried. We own most of the guns and have the police on our side too

Not sure what you are getting at but as someone with asthma and copd when I say I can't breathe by god I can't breathe I might be able to get just enough to get I can't breathe out but if you don't listen to me I could die

Sounds like you might want to choose a "job" that isn't illegal and that doesn't bring you into daily contact with the police?

Now, let me ask again. Have you seen the video? Did Garner say "I can't breathe"? Did he say it multiple times?
