I guess we read into it what we want. The fact that he still wants to look into the NFL I just think doesn't bode well for you guys. Sabes was different, he wanted to GTFO of the NFL, Harbaugh clearly doesn't.
I agree.
Sounds like he wants to coach in the NFL but his family and outsiders are pushing their own agenda.
If he really wanted to return to college, he knows how the recruiting game works and the longer you wait, the harder it is to recruit.
And if he says no after Michigan sits around waiting for 2-3 weeks, it's gonna be hard for them to replace him.
I just don't see miles leaving LSU on NYD for Michigan. Seems too late in the process for that.

which pretty much guarantees that if he does go to michigan, he'll be back in the NFL within 3-4 years.

Various reports saying it's already a done deal, and others saying he isn't sure. No one knows anything for sure. Two weeks ago any NFL reporter was saying there was no shot he was leaving the NFL.
I don't think he nor Michigan are that concerned with recruiting this year. The class is already shite, and it's a dead period anyway. The long term benefits of Michigan doing its due diligence in regard to handling Harbaugh and potential plan Bs far outweighs the possibility of salvaging this recruiting class.
That being said, if he really doesn't want to be here then I don't want him to be here. I would rather he not come at all than bolting after a few years.

you say that but even a 3-4 year kick start could do wonders for the michigan brand.

He's gone to Michigan. He is just saying the right things right now. He really isn't supposed to say anything about other jobs until his season is over. I think its a done deal!!

I think he wants to stay in the NFL but the offer is too sweet from UM. I think he goes to UM but stays no longer than five years and goes back to the NFL.

He's not walking away from a Super Bowl championship for one year or five years. He's too much of a competitor to do that. Saban didn't have success in the league and couldn't stand not having control. Harbaugh had excellent success and had control. One thing is certain, he won't win a Super Bowl in Ann Arbor no matter how many games he wins. The longer he waits, the worse it is for his first recruiting class which is what he lives with for the next three years.
It's not happening.

I think Harbaugh can take his time... up to a point. He would be a big name, splashy hire. I'll bet he could get some guys who don't currently have Michigan on their radar to take a hard look... maybe even visit. Either way, Michigan is right in not rushing this thing.

Yeah but then we have to deal with this all over again in 3-4 years.

Don't count out the Dolphins.

Yeah, one way to read it is that the NFL guys are capitulating. There is also some feeling that Michigan or his camp is trying to take the temperature down a notch so he can just get through the next week without being grilled about the deal being done. I was kind of in the cocky Michigan camp until this. Part of me just wants to go at Les with like 6.5 mill and be done with it.
I honestly think you guys have lost your shot at Miles. If they had gone hard after him 2-3 weeks ago, maybe. But I think he has moved on.
He seemed pretty confident yesterday that we would hold onto some of the Juniors thinking of going pro, which is a big deal. If we don't have to replace 4 on the OL and can get some improved QB play, then he has a potential playoff contender next season. I don't think he leaves now, for any offer.

Miles still in play. Pay attention to his interviews. He never said he is not interested in Michigan.
John U Bacon is saying:
Les will come if asked. The only thing Michigan need to do is just asking.

I wonder how many degrees of separation I am from John U. Bacon?
Whoever the frick John U. Bacon is, that is.

He's a bestselling author from Michigan that's written multiple books on Michigan and College football. He's pretty well connected to the program, but you can't take what he, like what anyone else says, as gospel.
Anyway, I am pretty sure he wrote off Miles.
