When would YOU call someone a thug?

If I refused to call a white kid a thug who behaved the same way, I'd get accused of racism with a quickness.

How so, giving the GJ too much info?

Other than that, the case is littered with uneven eye witness testimony, shoddy investigative work, no fingerprints on the gun, no found cigars, etc.
Yet, Wilson should have been indicted, even with all the problems you cited?

Because SOME black people think it is a racist word?
What is next, do we need to consult a list of forbidden words before speaking?

Other than that, you had conflicting witness testimony across the board and no compelling evidence contradicting Wilson's testimony.
We don't indict people just because StrongSafety thinks we should.

I've been saying for a long time that no longer does it appear good enough to blacks that you not be racist. NOW, you must anticipate what a stupid person would THINK is racist.
This is an absolutely impossible bar to hop over. It reminds me of when the guy in D.C. used the word "****rdly" which is a word rooted in Norse languages. He was told he should've "anticipated that some blacks would think it was racist".
frick that shite. I refuse to have to anticipate what a stupid person will think.

I will afford that kid the same benefit of the doubt or lapse in judgement that was given to everyone that I knew from college that got in brawls at bars, got DWIs, got MIPS, committed vehicular homicide, did truck loads of drugs, got arrested, spent nights in jail, stole from campus cafeterias and from off campus liquor stores, etc.
All those "kids" went on to be successful CFAs, CPAs, JDs, MDs, etc.
I'll call it what it is--a lapse in judgement. I nor you know enough about that kids life to condemn him as a thug. His last moments surely didn show him to be an angel, but that's all we have. I refuse to be as short sighted as those that cast him as a street thug who got what he deserved. If that's the case, then we have many successful street thugs cloaked as business people, lawyers and doctors.
There is NOTHING Brown could have done for SS to consider him a criminal or a thug. He was simply a good boy that made some bad choices.
Following this reasoning, no one should ever be considered a thug or a criminal. Although, I doubt SS would be so willing to withhold judgement if we were discussing Timothy VcVeigh.

You could start by just not unnecessarily using any words that you think might come across as racist.

Oh, and in any case, that someone may grow out of being a thug does NOT negate that while behaving as a thug, they are in fact, THUGS!

They are facts that there was a fight in the car, brown slapped boxed with him and that the shots were fired from ranges that officer wilson, after getting 2 months to conjure up a story, stated. Other than that, the case is littered with uneven eye witness testimony, shoddy investigative work, no fingerprints on the gun, no found cigars, etc.
So no statement was taken from Wilson in the week after the shooting?

I would liked to have not seen conservative white America (my people iow) react to this whole story in such a predictable way, basically just seeing it as another opportunity to confirm their preexisting biases. Also wasted an opportunity to talk about police tactics.
uway, thank you.

You have a handy link to such a list or are we just supposed to "know"?

If Wilson wasn't a cop, he would have been indicted, but DA's acting as cops' de facto defense attorney during the grand jury process is nothing new. Eric Holder had an abysmal record when it came to prosecuting bad cops when he was a federal attorney in D.C.

He wouldn't have been involved. However, If someone tries to take my gun to use it on me, I'll shoot them too.

I don't really think you believe that once someone tries to disarm a cop that person forever loses his right to live, even if he broke off that encounter and tried to escape and was no longer threatening the cop or anyone else.
However, the encounter did not end. If, later in the same encounter that person refuses the officer's orders and continues to approach the officer in a hostile manner, he is still a threat. Is he not?

If I were on a GJ for a regular citizen and no forensic evidence contradicted that citizen and the witnesses are conflicting, I'm not voting to indict. That's all I can go on. What I would do if I were on a GJ. Anything else is guesswork.

I'm not talking about the shots that took place in the car before Brown ran and Wilson chased him.
