Theaters in Boston and Denver are trying it out. $45/month to include 3D films too.

BOSTON (CBS) — A Netflix-like deal is coming to some movie theaters in Boston: Pay a single monthly fee and go to the movies every day without having to buy a ticket.
It’s called MoviePass, and it will launch early next year at AMC theaters in Boston and Denver only. It’s the first time a movie theater chain has offered a premium subscription service, AMC and MoviePass say.
For $45 per month, theatergoers can see one movie per day, including 3D and “AMC ETX” movies. A standard subscription limited to 2D movies costs $35 monthly.
AMC and MoviePass said they are adjusting to a new reality where many, especially young people, are used to paying for entertainment via subscriptions like Netflix and Hulu.

In the summer time.. maybe? But there are never enough good movies worth seeing for $35-45/month.

$45 or $35 a year maybe. I don't go the the theaters more than 4 times a month. I don't even make it to the theater every month. I don't think there are that many movies worth going out to see in theater coming out every month. This seems like a very niche deal.

$45/month is too high.

Maybe if it was truly unlimited.

No. $35/month is far too high.

No.

I can watch hours and hours of Netflix without leaving my couch or while doing other stuff and that costs $17 a month.
I might pay $45 for a pair of unlimited tickets, but not one.

I would if I didn't have two young kids

no.
if i was single i would, but being married i don't go to the movies that much anymore, unless it's a movie that i really want to see.

paying that per month is so dumb. Way too high. They will get people that only do 1 month and watch 10 movies. if they did like 14 bucks a month more people would go. I think more would justify paying a little less than 2 movies per month. Not 5 movies a month

No.
I might go to the movies 6 times a year. Just to accomplish that takes a lot as well.

Absolutely not

no, I doubt I spend that much in a year (though I'd like to)

Not being able to go to more than one movie a day is a real bummer for a deal like that.
Interesting idea though.
I would love it during the summer but not so much for the rest of the year.

No, I just don't go to the movies enough to make this a prudent investment.

$35/month doesn't prevent people from using their phones or talking in the theater, so no.

new release movies? definitely. I spend a lot more than $35 a month.

Nope. Not 3 movies a month I want to see. Maybe over the summer there might be, but the majority of months, that wouldn't entice me at all.
