I think it's the perfect analogy. If you grant GS an exemption based on a cry-baby argument of "we know the rules but we think we deserve it and you should give it to us" then you take away a slot from a team that plays within the rules and truly deserves to be there. So, by saying GS should get a spot and rules be damned then you are saying that every team deserves to participate.

still a horrible analogy
I didn't say they deserve it, but to compare their situation to a participation trophy is asinine

But they beat App State by 20, and the Cajuns got spanked by them....... Therefore Ga Southern is your 2014 Sunbelt Conference Champion

The part you don't understand is that the situation is about a participation trophy and nothing else. What else would they be playing for?
The NCAA postseason is a joke until they sponsor a real one. Until then, even the national championship is a joke.

I guess that's why Georgia State is going to a bowl game , too

Uh no. Equating them wanting to be in a bowl b/c they went undefeated in/won thier conference to them wanting a participation trophy does not do anything for your argument. It makes you look silly in fact.

Spot on. It's such BS for fans to attend game in and game out to get screwed during bowl season.

Yep. A lot of these people are spending most Saturdays tailgating in Baton Rouge and driving back at halftime. They will be wherever they are "seen".

Try most boring game on the planet. GF and I went last year and fell asleep.

Do you just make up numbers about their expansion?

The "expected expansion" is an updated upper deck which will actually lower current capacity somewhat. And yes, getting rid of the 70's era press box and updating the stadium is needed
I now these numbers aren't definitive, but roughly 20,000 fans attend home games of a stadium that has a capacity of 30,000. I keep hearing about the "master plan" and how the stadium is going to seat 60,000. Unless something changes to get people going to the game the stadium will be 2/3 empty. I agree it needs to be updated. Last time I went there was an abandoned score board sitting at one end of the bowl.

Don't get me wrong, Cajun fans are more than happy to take their money for those limited appearances, but it would me nice if they showed up at other times.
I don't think money can be a valid argument. Season tickets cost less than $100 a piece. There have been tons of promos to get people to games. BOGO season tickets etc. People in town have trouble giving away free tickets. Also, you have the issue of people hanging out in the parking lot and refusing to go to their games.

This 60,000 master plan only happens if private donations to the RCAF reach a certain long-term goal level, and if seating demand calls for such. This isn't happening right away, and won't happen at current status of the program.
