Those players got run ragged that day.

Hell, I was tired afterwards just watching the game. What a classic!

Hard to believe this is a quarter century old. I saw Louisiana Tech play LSU the year before in Shaq's freshman year. That was a great game and I think Tech won. I remember watching the game live when Gaithers collapsed. Shocking. Right on camera.

Tech beat us the year before Shaq was a freshman. We had no answer for my high school teammate, Randy White, from Tech. Sims and Blanton were our bigs that year. White ended up playing for the Mavs.

Jackson and White both went for 50+ if I remember right. It was a great game.

One of the worst coached games ever in basketball history. I was there and me and my friend couldn't believe how dumb Dale was. Roberts and O'neal and LSU running against a team of runners. Tigers pulled out a thrilling victory, but man I was pulling my hair out.

Correct. Tech beat us when CJ was a freshman. No Shaq or Stanley Roberts. Jackson had 55. I don't remember how many Randy White had but you are right. We had no answer. First time I saw CJ play in person.

Me too. Never seen any sporting event played at that type of tempo.

I was there also...was one of the greatest games of all time...Bo Kimble, Hank Gathers, Jeff fryer...those were the big days of LSU basketball..they actually burnt up the teletype by halftime that day..was amazing..It was like watching a tennis match the ball was going from one end of the court to the other in less than 5 seconds...as the ball would go thru the basket, Loyola Marymount player would grab the ball as it swooshed through the net and only step one foot behind the baseline and throw it half court...fastest game I ever watched..final score in overtime LSU-148 Loyola Marymount-141..

They just don't play basketball like this any more, and that's sad.

I was there and wrung out by halftime. I remember telling a friend that I did not know if I could make it through another half like that. Then overtime too!

I'm not a big basketball fan, but that was probably the most exciting sporting event I ever attended. Still have the ticket stub, with the score written on it, in my safe deposit box.
