Yep. tOSU had to win and win BIG to make it plausible and look what happened.

I disagree. Ohio State closed out the year very strongly.
Had they stumbled around like FSU they would have gotten left out.
Also if Baylor would have lost and made TCU sole champions it would have helped TCU too.

Let's be honest though, nobody in America is beating Ohio State if they play like THAT again. You can't say they didn't earn it.

The fact that OSU's fanbase is more than twice the size of Baylor's and TCU's combined had to play an important roll.

OSU beating Wisky was impressive.

Its ALL about TV ratings.....................

I agree. As long as they won Saturday tOSU was getting in. Blowing out WI just makes it easier for the committee to justify it.

horseshite. You are going to get awesome TV ratings regardless.
What it's about is there are 3 teams in the big 12 in the top 25, 4 teams in the big 10 in the top 25.
You can only argue strength of schedule at the top of the division.

To believe this, you have to be willfully ignorant of the fact that Ohio State had a better record against a tougher schedule.
Silly ESPN viewers.

You serious????
Bama vs. Ohio St. is gonna get way better ratings than a Bama vs. TCU/Baylor...

quote:I can't tell you how much I disagree with this. Wisconsin has absolutely zero talent at WR. Their receivers were challenged at the line of scrimmage by Ohio State, and they could not get any separation. Wisconsin's QB had to hold the ball, and Ohio State got pressure on him. He made bad throws under pressure, which is his history, and Wisconsin's receivers just weren't good enough to bail him out and make any difficult catches. Ohio State defended Wisconsin using much of the same tactics as LSU used in the second half of its game with Wisconsin, and was able to limit Wisconsin's running game with extra men in the box. Wisconsin was fortunate that none of its opponents, other than LSU and Ohio State, had the talent to match up and take away it WRs and slow Wisconsin's running game

I doubt Ohio State can do the same to Alabama defensively. I think Amari Cooper is going to light up Ohio State. Ohio State's safeties will be forced to protect against Cooper, White and Jones, not to mention Howard. They won't be able to put 8 men in the box, and Alabama will move the ball against them effectively.
Alabama's defense has shown a tendency to allow big passing plays. If Jones can remain composed I think Ohio State will have some success offensively, but more likely in the 24-34 point range. I just don't think that will be enough to beat Alabama.

I like your breakdown and mostly think the same thing. Bamas defense is sound but they have linebackers that are massive but perhaps not as fast and OSU has 2 players in particular (Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson) with the speed to get to the edge. I don't see OSU being able to run between the tackles.
Defensively I think you are correct. Wisconsin was one dimensional and bama is not. Much tougher to defend and you cant cover Amari Cooper with 1 guy.
I don't expect OSU to win that game. I guess its possible but I wont be surprised to see Bama win.

I agree with everything you said and you put it well, but if Ohio State plays like they did against Wisconsin then no one will beat them. That was the best game I have seen them play. The thing is, I do not thing they will play that way again because that was absolutely absurd.
