Perhaps not, but you sure got the little chickens around here clucking non-stop for a week. Hell, you even convinced TheDoc to sell his soul he was so sure of it.

a done deal is a signed contract

enough has come out in the wash that Saban agreed in principle to a deal, Mack's buddies blew it up (ala Carr and Miles in 2007) and the agreement fell apart.

This mornings news

Was told tonight #Michigan officials offered David Cutcliffe their job but the #Duke coach turned it down. Times sure have changed.

Let's break down why this is probably a 100% wrong:
Gil is not a Michigan insider and has no idea if an offer was extended.
Gil is like 100 years old
Gil probably doesn't understand how a search firm works that contacts a ton of candidates to gage interest.
Gil tweeted recently about Greg Schiano which most believe came from the Schiano camp
Michigan insiders have already said that he wasn't offered
David has done a fine job a Duke but is 60 years old
Gil and David must be friends and looking to get his friend a raise.
What could be accurate is David told the search firm, he is not interested in leaving Duke.
So thanks Gil for putting that out in the media. The only offer that Michigan insiders say is out there is one to Jimmy. There is no way that Michigan offered David Cutcliffe, none. (remember when there was news that Nebraska was going to name Tressel head coach? Riley was hired like two hours later)

Another reason this probably has zero truth. It was reported that Les was contacted last night as well. So the search firm is doing it's job. Gil stay off twitter. Now sports radio can go with David turned down Michigan all day.

today's 247 update

quote:

Les Miles: I spoke to some people directly tied to NFL and college agents and they think that the Michigan job right now is still Les Miles’ to lose. As reported, Michigan has already reached out to Miles and some think that he might come to Michigan if they approached him the right way. I talked to someone who coached with Les Miles and knows him personally and he said that Miles wouldn’t take it well if Michigan says they are interested in him but are waiting on Harbaugh or another coach first. The source said, “He’s done some really big things at LSU and he won’t play second fiddle to any coach, Michigan has to come at him the right way if they really want him.”

i was going to make a comment that if he was choice 1, he would have been contacted much sooner than yesterday.

That was said one of the other times as well.

I think harbaugh has given them their answer (no) and they are trying to make it work with Les right now.

will he be offered? yes. will he take it? idk... I would think he would.

This was being discussed on the rant earlier. I wholeheartedly believe that Miles' pride will not allow him to take the job if he doesn't believe that he's their top choice. I believe that they are wanting him, but the Harbaugh rumors, whether true or not, will kill this deal.
