I'm shocked Riley left Oregon State. He is probably the last Pac 12 coach I saw leaving his school for another.

The 3rd post on a Nebraska board.

Mike Riley is a damn good coach, not sure why everyone is complaining.

wow I feel bad for my husker friends

4+ wins in the each of the last 10 seasons. 93 wins in 14 seasons = ~6.6 wins/season.
Way to go Cornhuskers.

so Riley is 61 years old making a move to resurrect a tradition rich program?

looks like he passed on the Bama job before they hired Price.
Didn't want to move his family.
Riley is a good coach and could do well at Nebraska, but I'm shocked to see him leave OSU. I guess with the growth of all the other programs in the PAC-12 he didn't really have a choice if he wants to compete at a high level now.

riley theoretically can be a good coach. his teams seem to take a long time to build during a season, and he's laid some eggs
but that was his rep 10 years ago. now he's pretty old and has had even more struggles. he's also leaving his home school and i believe the town where he grew up. his hippie/left coast attitude fit in perfectly with that area.
this is a major WTF from both sides. not often you see that shite

He is much better than his record. OSU just doesn't put money into their program like everyone else is doing in the PAC12.

People don't realize how hard a job OSU is to succeed at given the limited resources and being second fiddle in a state like Oregon.
He's had good offensive talent there for years. He should not be missing bowl games right and left with them.

He has a pass heavy offense, so I wonder how that meshes with Nebraska's traditionally run heavy offense. Also, that doesn't fix the mediocre defense they've had since Suh left.
Posted on 12/4/14 at 11:39 am to TreyAnastasio
Whoa. Did not expect that at all.
Posted on 12/4/14 at 11:39 am to Sevendust912
Based on results, he is not.
Posted on 12/4/14 at 11:40 am to Sevendust912
He's a 61 year old .500 coach.

Mike Riley had been called underrated so long that he became overrated.
He's a solid coach though but Nebraska needed to go with a young, innovative coach. Should have gambled on Scott Frost, seemed like a perfect fit.
