I just hope he doesn't go to TAMU or Auburn. Stay out of the West. Its too strong already.
His defense with their offenses would be deadly. Hopefully South Carolina calls and he goes to learn from his good friend Spurrier how to run a program.

There is really no such thing as "spread" and "pro-style" players. At few positions such as fullback, perhaps an argument can be made; but overall oline is oline, rbs are rbs, wrs are wrs, they can play in any system
Actually there is. Florida mostly had speedy small backs which succeed more in spread. In a pro-style you need a bruising back.
Pro-style needs bigger lineman that our maulers.
Spread needs smaller, quick lineman who are good at HUNH and zone blocking.
Pro-style QBs = pocket passers
Spread QBs = zone read\shotgun style passers.
it IS completely different.
Same can be said for Rich Rod at Michigan. Dude inheritted a bunch of players that were used to pro-style offense and 4-3 defense instead of his spread offense and 3-3-5 defense.
The players DO matter

Eh Peyton Manning runs both

they do matter greatly. Les has this problem, we recruited a hodge podge of players and then jammed them into a 1970 offense. Some guys like Buga will dominate no matter what system they are put in.

In Rich Rod's first year at Michigan his team went DEAD LAST in total offense and scoring offense in the big 10.
In his 2nd year he was 7th in total offense in the big 10
In his 3rd, and final year, he was 1st in total offense in the big 10.
This proves my point that he couldn't do it with pro-style offense style players and didn't field a good offense until he had a couple of years to get his style of players into the system.

Did you just say Peyton Manning runs both? He runs a zone-read offense? Last time I checked he doesn't run any zone-read because he is a strictly pocket passer.
Also, bringing the GOAT NFL QB into a conversation about coaches in college is pretty irrelevant to this debate.

Really? Small speedy Chris Johnson ran for 2000 in the NFL

How much smaller do you think they are? 220lb olinemen? And all spread offense use zone blocking.
QB is very important. It was the downfall of Muschamp. Not because Driskall was a spread qb, it is because he sucks.

And I do think Weis has a roll in all of this.

sounds a lot like Bebe Orgeron, although Bebe can recruit like hell.

Yeah... I can't imagine what it would be like to have no intermediate passing game...

couldnt make up his mind with running the ball or going to the spread.
2012 lived off a run game and good defense. Then tried to go spread.
What was UFs best win this year? UGA. They threw 6 passes and ran it 60 times.
Should have stuck with the Les Miles philosophy and hed still have his job.

And after that workload his yards and ypc have trended down every year since with the exception of a slight bump in 2012.
