You'd be hard pressed to find me 1 professional team with all guys of high moral character. Hell I guarantee the Saints got some now. Every team has a group of guys that are a little suspect. I don't think its reasonable to expect a professional team with over 53 players to have all character guys.
I'm not asking for high moral character. I though I made that clear.
Ray Rice isn't a "little suspect", and there is a vast difference between high moral character and beat your wife or girlfriend moral character. The Saints should be setting their minimum standard somewhere between those two extremes, and closer to the lower of the two for sure - but when it becomes hard to say "He just made some mistakes, son!" to my kid with a straight face then maybe the Saints should consider the impact it will have to their image since clearly by signing the guy moral character isn't an issue to them at all.

Ok, what about Will Smith? He got arrested for Domestic Violence as well.

didn't really see the outrage over this

Doesn't make the standards lower.. Every NFL player is not a standup guy. If every player had to be then it would be pretty thin at the RB position.
Me personally I want to keep Mark Ingram somehow, and maybe shop free agency in the offseason. I just definitely think when healthy Ingram is our guy!

I'd love to as well. I'm just not sure he wants to come back being how we've used him over the years.

"He didn't strike her with a fist. He didn't slap her. He didn't kick her. He didn't drag her down the street. She had no injuries," Perrodin said, adding that the facts of the case only show that Smith forced his wife down Jefferson Street.

There is a world of difference between what Will Smith did and what Ray Rice did.

Fair enough, We'll just agree to disagree. I just think Rice should get a shot to redeem himself. The slightest infraction and he's done.
People make mistakes, even very bad ones like this. People should get second chances. He's never had a history of anything prior.

For what it's worth, they also said the Saints "are not expected to pursue Rice".

Yea, Not sure if we even have the cap for it anyway.

People deserve second chances. I can promise that any act of aggression off of the football field will be closely monitored and lead to Rice never playing again. He deserves the chance to show that he is a changed man. I am in favor of the Saints giving him that second chance.

To all of you saying no to rice because of his character, our best cornerback's house just got raided by the cops. Should we cut him?

I don't give a flying frick what they do off the field, sign him

Why interest in Rice but none in Ben Tate?
Just what we need...another oft injured running back. Tate has been in the league 4 years and has already missed 24 games due to injury.

Wow, the Saints normally don't go anywhere near players with baggage.
This isnt your normal case where a guy has a recurring off the field problem or is a locker room problem. The ravens went to the lengths they did because he was a very high character guy (up to that point) and a locker room leader.

Picturing Ray Rice catching screen passes from Drew...oh God I just came

Pierre Thomas, Ray Rice, Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson
on paper that could be the best RB corp in the NFL.
While I would love to see it happen for football reasons...I obviously dont think it will.
Edited: I think I would like to see how this experiment works out on Madden...please excuse me while I go FAP.
