should I join a fraternity at LSU?

I will be an out of state student (Kansas), and don't know anything about LSU Greek life except for that's it's prevelant. Is it worth all the crap that comes with being in a frat?

LSU is a fun place with lots of opportunities and you don't have to pay for your friends. I'm the secretary general of the LSU computer programmer's club, why don't you come join us? We have lots of fun, LAN parties and clan raids and stuff, it gets pretty crazy sometimes! Plus we do lots of philanthropy, like donating IT services to the less fortunate. Come on down buddy! Just say you're from tigerdroppings and you'll be a shoe in!

Fraternities aren't for everybody. Nothing wrong with that. But go through rush, chances are that you'll find a fraternity that fits your style and go from there.

If you have decent social skills and at least half a brain, you don't need a frat to make friends, get girls, etc
