I was trying to think of coaches out there that are already established, because I don't think LSU fans will let Aleva get away with hiring an up and comer. Harbaugh? David Shaw?

1. Miles isn't going anywhere, so this thread is pointless.
2. If it actually happened, I personally would want David SHaw. He runs the offense that Miles wants....although thats just my opinion

Let me rephrase....out of the 2 OP asked, thats who I would choose. Harbaugh aint coming back to college

IDK, but I think Les will be here until Saban leaves Bama. If Les were to leave right now or soon, our recruiting would suffer, and our borders would be officially down. Yes, Les needs to beat Saban more on the field, but he holds his own in recruiting.

My grandmother understands balance on the offensive side of the ball better than miles.... I just don't think she could recruit that well

Pete Carroll, Sean Payton, either one of the Harbaughs. Who wouldn't want to coach at LSU?

Or promote Cam Cameron and elevate Frank Wilson to offensive coordinator. It would be a smooth transition.

Either of the above routes in no way would affect recruiting, as LSU as a school practically recruits itself.

I remember there was a can't miss candidate a few years ago who everyone wag angling for. I think his name was Will Muschamp. Let's see if he is available.

It really doesn't matter, losing Frank Wilson would be bigger loss than Miles.

Honestly, I would like to see this team with the coordinators both being co-head coaches. Maybe tri-head coaches with Frank in there.

Game decisions would be an improvement

replacing miles' integrity as a coach would be difficult.

replacing miles' recruiting skills would be pretty tough.

replacing miles' coaching technique to a "better" style would be easy

This is a question that deserves an honest answer. You won't get many, so I'll try and offer one.

Truth is, there are probably a decent amount of coaches at various levels who could replace Miles. Likewise, there are probably guys that you would consider to be 100% slam dunk hires that for one reason or another would come in and fail.

Hiring coaches has always been a crap shoot. We fans understand that so long as it's not about our favorite team. We can recognize the failures of historically great programs who have made poor hires over the years. When these programs are mired in their shitty hires we laugh and point, but then for some reason when they right the ship and make a good hire we forget their down time and act as if they jumped from one great coach to the next with no hiccups. Need I list the horrendous hires at BAMA, TENN, Florida? Notre Dame? Michigan? Literally no program is immune.

Is it possible to replace Miles today with a coach that could come in and win bigger immediately? Absolutely! Is it possible to hire a guy that comes in and tanks the program...even worse than some here today think Miles has bottomed out? Absolutely!

Risk of hiring a dud ought not be the only factor you'd consider when replacing an established coach...but it ought to be part of the equation because history is a bitch and she tells us how often bad hires happen even under the best intentions. But if your mind is made up, then you take the risk and roll the dice AND THEN BE READY TO LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES.

My fear is that for many years a large portion of LSU fans have had their minds made about about replacing Miles, but have not really come to terms with the very real possibility of having to live with the consequences of a bad hire.

Chip Kelly. I am sure that his signing on as a coach would give us a few new QB's and that is really all we would need.
