The story about the Memphis man with 25 kids/15 woman really hit home. Although I have not fathered 25, my ratio of kids to women is even smaller than his 1.66.

It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes...change the way I eat, change the way I live, and change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on me to do what I gotta do, to survive.

Anyway....how much do they cost? Where should are go? Are they covered by most insurance? I got tired of waiting on hold with my insurance.

TIA

If you have a high deductible and haven't met it yet, you will come out of pocket about 700-800.

Most insurance covers vasectomies. Mine didn't even have a copay on it.

Procedure itself is relatively painless but you will be out of commission for a weekend, and working out will suck for a few weeks. I get random ball pain once a month or so, but not that bad.

I would just check with your insurance as to who does it, its outpatient procedure and takes maybe 15 mins.

Drew Magary nailed it here

Although I didn't have the complications he did, I was actually back at work the next day, his article killed me yesterday.

quote:

It says a lot about both babies and rubbers that a man would willingly pay someone to cut open his scrotum to ensure he never has to deal with either entity ever again.

So I went home and filled a cooler with frozen peas and little kiddie lunchbox ice packs (surprisingly good for genital swelling; sorry, kids) and spent the majority of the weekend watching movies and football and telling my kids to stay away from me. It's hard to explain why Daddy cannot play right now, and why he has a bag of frozen peas strapped to his dick.

I had mine done in Mexico for $50. Of course the infection that resulted in me being castrated cost much more when I returned to the States.

I have BCBS of LA. Cost me $30 which is my co-pay for an office visit. A GP did mine and I didnt have issues what so ever. I also still pop some pretty good nuts just as good as before the procedure. They didn't put me to sleep, just local anesthetic.

I had mine done a week ago today.

Insurance paid for everything because we met our deductible dor the year. I think most plans will pay something towards it (because it's cheaper than a labor/delivery bill) so you might be out of pocket a couple hundred.

No idea where to go as I haven't lived in BR in several years, but ONLY go to someone who does no-scalpel procedures. You're welcome.

I'm mostly fine post op. I feel a little pressure randomly throughout the day (especially if I'm moving around a lot) but other than that everything functions normally.

$ 1,200 you want the guy that does a 100 a week to do yours, practice makes PERFECT. Don't use a regular dr. that does one a month.......Rest for 2 days after and I mean stay laying down with ice on the jewels and you will avoid the swollen balls and discomfort down the road. If you let the boys recover correctly there are no lasting side effects and recovery is quick.

Dr. Vick at BR Urology did mine about 4 years ago. For all the horror stories I've heard, it wasn't bad at all. Sat in a chair all weekend watching football and drinking beer. Didn't run for 10 days, but was as good as new after that.

Free if you work for a living and have decent health insurance.

Baton Rouge Clinic. Ask to speak to the Urologists. Dr. Schmeklee (sp?) is a great doctor. But she can't help you with helping verb/personal pronoun usage.
