re: Is Fournette Seriously Injured - Was it targeting?

Landon Collins knocked LF out before that return. No doubt in my mind from what I saw watching the replay he was playing with a mild concussion when he returned that kick. It was borderline criminal to put him back in the game after the Collins hit.

He's returning a freaking kick... He's not a defenseless receiver or a QB after a throw. Cmon people.

Targeting or not, that was definitely Fournette's "Welcome to the SEC" moment.
He's never been hit that hard in his life.

The opponent has to be defenseless by definition of targeting. At what point is he defenseless while returning the kick? Had LSU laid the lick you would talk about it for years and you definitely wouldn't think it was targeting.

Yall stop being pussies. It's a clean legal hit. You want to blame something blame the defense for giving up points late or the offense for not winning the game late for us. Bama is just better. That's why they are number 1. They played clutch and we didn't when we needed to. Deal with it

Its a shame he has to take a beating like he has because there is no passing game! We have all these great backs and they cant get a opening due to the other teams not respecting the pass

Imagine how deadly it would be to have Jamal Adams and DJ Chark returning kicks instead of our power running backs

It was a great hit. frick targeting. LF got rocked. Move on

As highly touted #10 is for Bama, there is a reason he is only playing special teams. Watching Bama play Miss. St., #10 leads with his head on every tackle.
They were talking about that shite in the Alabama spring game. That fool is going to break his neck one day doing that shite.

So now you can't hit someone hard at the shoulders ? BS. looks like just a hard hit.

Classic targeting play and you idiots say it wasn't. Good Lord

You might want to look up the definition of targeting.

Looked like a pretty good hit to me. And LF shouldn't be returning kicks anyway.

doesn't matter. the rule is not head to head contact anymore.
Uh, no.
It's head or neck. You can hit a dude in the shoulder.

I agree with this.

Foster's hit, leading with his head left Foster's right arm temporarily limp and followed on the heels of Landon Collins delivering a hard blow to Fournette.
Foster's hits leading with the helmet will shorten his own career. He did that against Miss St. and went off the field dazed himself.

He hit LF with his shoulder not his helmet. It only looks like a hit with his helmet due to this camera angle.
Why does our fan base insist on crying about referees after evey loss. I just don't get it.
Until you show me a different angle, he clearly hit with the helmet.
Posted on 11/18/14 at 9:51 pm to RummelTiger
For all you dumb asses who think its in the shoulder you can actually click and hold and it will freeze the hit. The video will continue but it will stop the video if you hold it.
He hits him in the shoulder but comes right up the shoulder and nails a helment to helment.

Jesus...
Yes, he hit him with his helmet...in the shoulder...which is legal.

Here you go:
Rule 9-1-3: Targeting and initiating contact with the crown of the helmet. No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.
Rule 9-1-4: Targeting and initiating contact to head or neck area of a defenseless player. No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, fist, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul.
These are different targeting rules but leading with the helmet anywhere is targeting. As some have stated, #10 will eventually get himself hurt. If so, he deserves every bit of it.
