So Salmon would you not say that by end of year every year ,under chavis, that the LSU defense has not improved from the beginning of the year? Can you say the same for the LSU offense?

quote:Yeah. I know a lot of you blamed him for the Alabama game when our defense gave up 13 points in regulation... and credited the offense when we beet Ole Miss 10-7.
Chavis has lost or almost lost a lot of games within the last 2 minutes..
Shoot, some people on here were complaining about the defense after 1/9.

I am not high on Miles right now but this is inaccurate.
"Offensive talent especially at QB just never improves "
Lee - improved a TON from his first year.
Mettenberger - improved even more
Beckham & Landry - both improved (especially with Beckham eliminating drops).
Seeing Jefferson stagnate and even regress over 4 years makes it seem like "nobody" improves but many offensive players have.

yeah the defense has generally improved
and no, I can't say that the offense has improved every year
it improved in 2012 and 2013, but not every year, of course not

Your Missing the point if LSU had any offense at all then the Defense wouldnt be losing those last minute games. The only reason we were in those game was the defense. That can be said for the last 6 or 7 years.
prayers sent for your head injury which caused you to miss or forget all of last season.
also the 2012 Bama game in tiger stadium was lost by the defense. i'm not saying our offense has been great but to say chavis hasnt had faults is obtuse.

This does not exactly apply to the following games:
Clemson: 4th and long
UGA: shootout
Bama 2012: Absolute failure to end both halves
Ole Miss 2013: Surrendered a 4th down conversion, and let them march down the field.

Landry, Beckham, Hill, Mettenberger...average?
In 2013 certainly not
In 2012? You could argue that the offense underachieved based on the available talent and you'd have a legit argument IMO
All of those studs were sophs and Mett was a junior with a year in the system behind Lee and JJ

Great sample size.

Yep, and he's also the one willing to make adjustments. Notice how the defense has improved consistently since the Auburn game.
On offense, I'd say the trend has actually tended to be the opposite. It's as if teams figure us out along the way and then we have no answer.
