So the fine people at MetalSucks.net have compiled a panel of heavy metal musicians and experts to rank the 25 greatest metal bands in existence.

The list has been highly scrutinized as of late, and for good reason.

The #1 spot is about to be revealed and it will obviously be Black Sabbath. Here is the remainder of the list for those who are curious:

25 Best Metal Bands of All-Time

1. Black Sabbath (assumed)
#2 - Iron Maiden (86 votes, 1635 Points)
#3 — Slayer (85 Votes, 1,571 Points)
#4 — Metallica (84 Votes, 1,486 Points)
#5 — Pantera (65 Votes, 1,052 Points)
#6 — Judas Priest (61 Votes, 997 Points)
#7 — Megadeth (64 Votes, 913 Points)
#8 — Death (57 Votes, 778 Points)
#9 — Motorhead (42 Votes, 622 Points)
#10 – Carcass (42 Votes, 516 Points)
#11 – Cannibal Corpse (40 Votes, 510 Points)
#12 – Anthrax (42 Votes, 497 Points)
#13 – Sepultura (41 Votes, 444 Points)
#14 – Dio (33 Votes, 433 Points)
#15 – Mercyful Fate (31 Votes, 419 Points)
#16 – Morbid Angel (33 Votes, 406 Points)
#17 – Meshuggah (32 Votes, 377 Points)
#18 – Opeth (30 Votes, 364 Points)
#19 – Testament (33 Votes, 347 Points)
#20 – At The Gates (28 Votes, 331 Points)
#21 – AC/DC (17 Votes, 313 Points)
#22 – Celtic Frost (24 Votes, 310 Points)
#23 – Ozzy Osbourne (21 Votes, 290 Points)
#24 – Napalm Death (22 Votes, 278 Points)
#25 – Lamb of God (29 Votes, 277 Points)

Some initial observations include:
-Slayer being ahead of Metallica
-Judas Priest failing to crack the top 5
-Anthrax being ranked so high
-Cannibal Corpse being ranked so high
-AC/DC being ranked, but no Tool, Rush, Kiss, or Dream Theater
-Napalm Death being ranked at all

A few of theses I never heard of. Carcass??? Mercyful Fate??? Testament??? Celtic Frost????? Napalm Death?????

I have never been a fan of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer... seeing them there hurts me.

I get why they are there though totally.

But really NO TOOL?????????

Hard to argue with the Top 7 (although re-ordering might be needed for some) - after that, it gets really subjective, really quickly.

Pretty solid list. Would move up Ozzy and Lamb of God, and move down Death and Carcass.

Half of those bands' 'music' sounds like a colonscopy

Wait, in what universe is Lamb of God not metal?

I would submit Mastodon and High on Fire for that list, but maybe it's just too soon compared to the bands listed.

My opinion

Meshuggah belongs nowhere near this list

Carcass and Death in the top 10 is absolutely correct. Death's discography is great and Carcass released classics in 3 different genres.

ACDC... wtf

Opeth should be ahead of Cannibal Corpse.

If Napalm Death is on that list for starting Grind then Venom should be on there for starting black metal. Napalm isn't even that good.

I understand Cannibal being there because of popularity, but bands like Deicide and Obituary blow Cannibal out of the water.

Pretty solid list, even though anything Ozzy has done flat out aggravates me when I listen to it. That whining just gets under my skin, and I immediately change the station (CD player broken). No White Zombie, no care

I wish they did something on the 25 most influential people in rock also.

AIC brings it harder than most of the bands on this list.

Pantera should be 1.

AIC is better than all of them.

Who gives a crap? None of them hold a candle to bands that rocked just as hard but aren't considered metal like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and the Who.

My Top 5 would be the same bands, but in this order...

Pantera
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Black Sabbath
Slayer

Opeth should be higher, just my opinion though. Otherwise a pretty good list.
