Jesus dude, research...
Hayden Rettig
Zach Mettenberger - How did no one mention him already? I get that he transferred but we still went after him.
Zach Lee
Jarrett Lee
Chris Garrett
Matt Flynn
Jamarcus Russell
Don't think you make an accurate point

Harris played and would rather play pro style. He was more of a pocket passer and gets classified as dual threat because he can run. That is why I have hope for him. I agree that we try to put spread qb's in a pro style offense.

We run a pro style offense with dual threat qbs. Works huh?

It doesn't seem to work except with the pro style guys. I can't think of one "dual threat" guy that has greatly succeeded.

Don't pretend to know what he has or doesn't have in the Southeastern Conference based on what he did in high school or a few inconsequential snaps against Miss. State and Auburn. Nobody knows yet. Nobody knows. Not enough evidence yet to convict or equit.......
What style is Mett and what does Harris lack?

I think one can make a pretty good judgement about his physical attributes, especially since we're comparing what style we should be recruiting

The majority of our QB recruits prior to AJ and Harris have been pro-style--even if they weren't utilized as such. Jefferson was actually pro-style. I believe Perriloux and Shep were the only two dual-threats of note before the current crop.
Add in Randall too, but you are correct. We have had way more pocket passers, than dual threats. Hell, Feliepe Franks isn't a dual threat. If you watch his tape, he looks more like Brad Kaaya from Miami.

It took until Brady's junior year until he did anything at Michigan. Even still, he was very meh. His best season rivals Jordan Jefferson in 2009 (true shite). Wilson was averaging over 3000 passing yards a year at NC ST. Went to Wisconsin, and had the most efficient QB season in college football history. What is crazy, is that RG3 was right behind him that year in efficiency. The problem with RG3 in the NFL, is that he is way too injury prone. His rookie year was outstanding before he got hurt.
Brady didn't become "Brady" until he was coached up by the Patriots.

The FIRST PRIORITY in evaluating a QB is can he effectively get the ball to his receivers.
Agreed

Yes, I love mobility assuming the FIRST PRIORITY is satisfied. At no fricking point in any rational brain should mobility be considered on equal footing.
While I personally agree, that isn't always true. Tim Tebow was a hell of a college QB and even Cam had limitations as a passer in college.

His name is Aaron Rodgers

I would take Russel Wilson in college over Brady in college. Wilson did beat SF in the NFCCG with his arm. Brady's biggest weapon is his brain, b/c Wilson also has a better arm right now.

seems to be to long of a learning curve for the college game which only has it's best players for 3 years and others for 4. If it takes 2-3 years to learn the system what good is it?

The ability to move in the pocket or scramble for some yards when the D is out of position doesn't make a QB dual threat. Of the guys you listed, only Wilson is even arguably dual threat.
Brees had 900 rush yards and 14 TDs in college. Luck ran for 950 yards and 7 TDs in 3 years in college. He has ran for 760 yards and 11 TDs in 2 and a half years in the NFL. Rodgers ran for 360 yards, and 8 TDs in 2 years at Cal.
All these guys were dual threats in college. Brees and Rodgers are now just mobile QBs. Brees and Luck were better dual threats than Jefferson (who was a pro style pocket passer coming out of high school).

when it comes to the passing game, this so - called 'pro-style' looks like a train wreck. Why not go with the systems the rest of college football run and what most NFL teams run these days.

If you look at all the talented spread college QBs in the league right now from Kaepernick, Newton, Wilson, RG3, Geno Smith & Tannehill, they all have their struggles adjusting to learning how to read defenses & consistently throw from the pocket. Sooner or later, NFL teams will stop taking chances on these spread QBs which is going to be difficult because the spread has become so popular in college. If that indeed happens, will we see a trend back to more pro style offenses in college?
Out of all the young QBs Luck is hands down the best & I don't it's just a coincidence that he came out of a pro style offense at Stanford. It doesn't hurt that he is gifted both physically & mentally either though.
Wilson never played in a spread. He was in a pro style at NCST and Wisconsin. RG3 had a better rookie year than Luck, his problem is that he spends more time rehabing, than learning the key nuances of the NFL game. Wilson is very good, but he has bunk for WRs, and his system is more run oriented. Cam Newton had the best rookie season of all time. Shattered the TD record by 8 that was set back in the 40s, tied for second in rushing TDs by any rookie ever. Had the most passing yards by any rookie (previous leader Peyton Manning). He surpassed him with 83 fewer attempts.
Think about it, Rodgers set behind Favre for 3 years before he even got to play. Brady wasn't Brady until year 3, Brees is almost night and day compared to his first 5 years with the Chargers.

No. He was the purest example of a dual threat and a dangerous one. Now some might throw for 4000 and 50 TDs, or rush for 2000 and pass for 2000, or something crazy like 5000 passing and 70 TDs, but he was one of those rare dual threats that are actually insanely good a passing and rushing in high school.
Senior year
209/330 (63.3%) 3518 yards (10.66 ypa) 37 TDs 9 ints
144 carries 1135 yards (7.88 ypc) 17 TDs
Those numbers are insane. Even as a junior (his first year every playing football.
152/306 ( 49.7%) 2673 yards (8.7 ypa) 26 TDs
627 rush yards 12 TDs (don't know the carries)

Luck is faster than Wilson
That isn't true. Wilson is faster, but Andrew Luck's speed (around 4.7) is pretty impressive for his size 6'4", 234 vs 5'11" 204.
Luck had a better vertical, a better broad jump, and a better 3 cone drill. Luck is quicker, but doesn't have that top end speed due to his size
He also had a better vertical and 3 cone drill than Cam Newton. he's an insane athlete

I was mainly talking about their style of play in the pros, but did not realize any of those guys ran so well in college tbh.

I meant under Miles, but yeah, the point stands. The current crop seems to be heavily influenced by the current offensive staff.

See the last play of the game. Easily could have picked up the first with his legs.
