I currently have the '09 13 inch Macbook unibody. I'm considering looking at the macbook air & other smaller laptops. Especially since I'm mainly using this for streaming music/tv shows, writing & normal internet use.

TIA

the macbook air is supposed to get a refresh soon, I wouldn't buy the current gen. I would wait.

Once they release the retina model, the non-retina models might have a nice drop in price.

I wouldn't waste money on a Macbook in that case then. Can definitely find a laptop under $500 that would suit your needs.

Then how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win?

Sell it on EBay-- trade up to a more current model off Craig's list--

Probably could move up to a 2012 for a few hundred bucks.

No need to go spend a grand or more on a MacBook then. Get something cheap

I'd wait to see when the Macbook Airs get a refresh - that is, a Retina screen. I'd kill for one of those.

If not, and you want it now, go with a 13" Macbook Pro with a Retina screen - it is light and easy to haul around - it is what I use everyday for my business, school work (I'm getting another degree), and everyday stuff. It does everything and looks fantastic.

I'd probably just get an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard if I were you. Surface Pro 3 is nice too, but more pricey.

I had a MBA a few months ago that I ended up returning. Didn't love the screen on it, so I'd definitely wait for the retina version if that's an issue.

Go with a Macbook. However I'm kind of a Mac fanboy so don't listen to me. :)

Personally I would say it comes down not to the features of the laptop, as with the exception of a touch screen and maybe a stylus pen, mac should have those same features. But I think it comes down to the OS. That is if price isn't an option.

I think Mac OS is better than Windows, at-least for users who want something user friendly. Because you have a mac I think it is best to stick mac because you are use to it.

But I do think that you can still get a solid computer if it's not a mac. Probably even better than the air for the same or less of a price.

Personally if I was only using it for light RAM use, than it should come down to price and OS.
