Of course it is, but it works. The media effectively convinced the American people that George Bush had an IQ below 80 because of the way he pronounced "nuclear" and because he was from Texas. He's a smart guy that can really deliver on some small gov't ideas and I already know where he stands on ObamaCare which is fantastic and he can light a fire under the establishment. His drawbacks are little to no political experience, being a virtual unknown and some ridiculous socially conservative views in my opinion with creationism and gays.
All in all, he's most defintely not my first choice for President.

On issues that relate to his governance? Absolutely not. But this is not about criticism. This is about taking an issue that has nothing with this ability to lead and using hit to determine his fitness for office (or lack thereof). And it is dishonest and despicable.
Of course, if we had asked some probing questions of our current President maybe we would have had a different outcome in his administration.
Again, President Obama is definitely not a young earth creationist, hence he must be incredibly intelligent and able to effectively lead.

It makes him a less viable candidate because its an easy target for detractors. YEC is a demonstrably false idea about our reality, and it is incredibly easy to paint those who believe in it as lacking critical thinking skills at best and dumb at worst.
It's part of his ideology, it is not influenced by reason, science or rational argument. That's fine, and it doesn't necessarily reflect a lack of intelligence. He is a far better and smarter doctor than I'll ever be. That doesn't change the fact that he will be portrayed as another dumb conservative with a fancy degree.

I like Dr. Carson, but he has no shot in heck to win. He is the 2016 version of Herman Cain, however I would vote for him faster than blood shunts through the Circle of Willis.

Carson is also not even close to being my top choice let alone in my top 5.

You are honestly answering, but again, you are parroting the meme. There are so many more issues that could be brought up about stewardship and leadership, and yet that is the favorite topic to discredit a candidate. Wow.

For the same reason they "matter" when the right brings up Obama's old church or claims he is a Muslim or an atheist.
It matters because people believe it matters. Whether or not it ACTUALLY matters is irrelevant.
Next time you believe religious views don't matter in national elections, try to envision a reality in which America elects an outspoken Muslim, atheist or Hindu. I think you'll quickly realize how much it does matter to people.
