Have we asked if it's possible to use the gravity equation to travel at speeds capable of reaching Brand without the wormhole?
Great question. This is the key to understanding what Cooper is doing at the end of the film. Even if the gravity equation did not directly enable Cooper to travel to Brand, it could have unlocked new discoveries and means of space travel.

It is that simple though. Why would It close? The other pilots went through before Cooper and it didn't close.

They didn't go because of fuel.

Plus there were pilots right in front of it close enough to see Cooper spit out of it, and aside from the view, I see no reason why they'd be close to Saturn if they weren't plotting at least eventually going through the wormhole. Maybe they just needed to make sure that the large ship's design could handle going through the wormhole and they were still investigating it. I can think of many reasons they wouldn't have gone through that wormhole since the Endurance.

They went to Saturn because that's where the wormhole use to be. They're exploring trying to find a way to that inhabitable system, IMO.

I doubt fuel was the reason. If they can get out to Saturn pretty easily, they could mine its natural gas for it, among other sources. I'm just thinking Cooper came along at just the right time when they just managed to get humanity as a whole off the planet. I'd say it's likely that would take at least 50 years.

Oh wrong scenario. Thought you were talking about cooper's crew why they didn't go to Edmunds and ice planet. When murph was said I was thinking brand

This says the same thing I said that it put Cooper back in time and the Cooper Station was while they were doing the other stuff
If Cooper goes back through the wormhole he will see his ship with him and crew before they went to the planets or while Brand is going to Edmunds depending on when they put Cooper back in time.

Could you try rewording that, since I'm honestly not sure what you're asking.

it was a statement IMO. After black hole, Cooper goes back in time when the Cooper Station was moving through space because Murph figured it out while Cooper was exploring the planets and went into the time acceleration. The black hole put him back right after he went to the worm hole. If he were to go through it again the Coopers original crew might still be exploring or Brand had just made it to Edmunds planet.
Might still not make sense but oh well. I still liked the movie.

Unless it can create wormholes (and that would require an unbelievable amount of energy that would almost certainly not be possible from the technology they have)
This is my point: whatever "They" existed (even possibly a 5th Dimensional "Us") had the power, resources, etc. to create a wormhole. Surely, "They" would also have had the capabilities of providing quicker, clearer, and accurate instructions on how mankind is supposed to safely abandon Earth. Instead, we get a bookcase "ghost" and an aberrant second hand on a 20 year old watch that disclose the secrets. Like I said, earlier. this was a stupid movie. But, like I also said, earlier, that did not keep me from enjoying it. It was a good movie.

also as a watch lover, I knew that Hamilton was a mechanical and unless you constantly wear it, it dies.

same with the replacements for me. I really don't even like it that much

He didn't go back in time. Murph was like 100 years old when he got to cooper station.
That graph is all kinds of screwed up.

Haven't read thread, scared of spoilers. Should we see Interstellar in Imax? Is it worth double the ticket cost?
Posted on 11/18/14 at 6:54 pm to Sho Nuff
Matinée imax ftw And yes it is. If you are sensitive to sound go to regular though. It is really loud

The 5th dimensional beings can't communicate with us directly, nor would we be able to understand them. I'm not sure I can effectively communicate with a cat, much less with a being that exists 2 dimensions below my own. All I can do is point to its bowl of food (wormhole) and maybe pet it (love). Or dropkick it. Everybody has different tastes.
