Let's wait at least til Friday. I'm not going to post towards your other post, since I have a feeling I know what you're talking about, but to even beat around the bush on that would go into spoilerish territory.

Wow. Where to start?. . .
First, for anyone planning to see Interstellar, see it in the largest format possible! The visuals were breathtaking and should be experienced in all their glory. There were some very moving moments in the movie - I had chills and tears at various intervals - but there were also some moments I feel were meant to be moving but were not. The characters' emotions weren't always that convincing to me.
Nolan aimed for an epic scale and certainly achieved it. It is long, but it's not overlong. Visuals in space get an A+. I feel like the plot could've used some whittling down / fine-tuning; it was too jumpy IMO. Some of the dialogue was a little hokey/unconvincing. As far as I could tell (and I'm no expert), all the science seemed accurate and understandable for general audiences. Almost everything made sense to me, except for one major question that's left unanswered (I'll save it for later so as not to spoil anything).
Acting was good by all; no one stood out as exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. I actually found the score a little disappointing. That's probably because Zimmer sets the bar so high for himself. It wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't his best work either.
Overall, a very solid movie, and definitely worth seeing in IMAX at least once, but it's not a masterpiece IMO. It didn't blow me away like, say, Inception.
7.5/10

I haven't watched it yet, but, it's already my favorite film of the year.

I pretty much agree with you verbatim. Will post more after the weekend about it. It's a tough film to analyze right away because it's so much to handle. But my initial judgments were it was very very good, but not really close to being a masterpiece. I don't think it even touches 2001, but it was cool to see all of Nolan's nods to that film. It really is a wonderful experience and a visually stunning movie though.
I'd give it around a 7/10 also. Inception was much better.

Will be in that number tomorrow night! I don't give a damn what RT rating percentages are, everywhere else is showing 90+%

Great reviews thus far.
But remember 2001 wasn't acclaimed initially. So I guess that first impressions of 2001 would say it didn't touch 2001.

Dilemma. Couldn't get good IMAX seats for tonight(they are reserved), so I bought some for Sunday night. I'd probably see this more than once anyway, but should i go to my local theater tonight and watch non IMAX or wait to watch it first time in IMAX.
FWIW my IMAX tickets are dead center 4 rows down from the top.

It's beautiful in IMAX, but unlike say Gravity, I don't think its essential. This movie will be fully watchable on DVD, unlike Gravity.

I was actually pleasantly surprised how well Gravity translated to Blu Ray. It turned out really good.
I watched it in IMAX 3D in theaters, and, as per usual, 3D sucked arse and gave me a headache.

I hope this movie doesn't turn into another Gravity. I still won't trust any critic that gave that movie any grade above mediocre.

I get that Gravity is supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece and what not with it's visuals and everything but the actual story/plot and the movie itself were boring.
I'll never get the praise gravity got for being a good movie.
Also, I'm going to see Interstellar tonight in IMAX and am pretty stoked. If it is like any of Nolans other movies I will be thoroughly pleased.
