Definitely seems like accidents on the basin are more common.

It is over quickly. I'm just afraid of idiots. I see people texting all the time.

I drove the Causeway last night around 12:30 AM. Had the whole bridge to myself.

I can't decide if I like driving at night more or less. It's very calm but SO dark.

BTW if I ever go in the water after an accident, I'm dead. My swimming skills are not up to "lake" levels.

I take back my criticism of the Causeway police. That truck driver clearly was speeding and distracted. Plows into the police unit and pushes the work truck over the side. Worker unaccounted for at this time.

fricking a-hole.

My son just said the same thing on our trip home today. My little one closes his eyes the whole way across.

My Dad commuted from Slidell to Metairie until he retired 2 years ago. I would get a little sick to my stomach every time a bad wreck was posted on here. So many miles... law of averages.

It is extremely dark and can definitely make you feel sleepy at the wheel. I listened to rap music (lol which I never do) and kept looking at the distant buildings to keep myself awake.

My least favorite is when it's pouring cats and dogs and you're caught on the causeway hardly being able to see in front of you. That's scary.

Second major accident in vicinity of Causeway work vehicles

for the most part they do an awful job of warning of upcoming stopped vehicles.

with that being said I never understood how hard it was not to hit someone when you are going straight

Yes. Terrifying. We moved to the NS last year to be closer to my son's doctors. Which means my SO drives it daily and I drive it frequently. And without a doubt the pouring rain and/or fog is the worst.

NOLA says two witnesses went in the water to help first person in. Apparently they were the ones pulled out. One still unaccounted for. Not good.
