Just call the police and tell them that the neighbors dog tried to attack you. That dog will be dead in minutes.

've been attacked by two dogs in my life, and both were Australian Shepherds and the events were 20 years apart. One was when I was 3 or 4. The other was several years back. Both times the dogs came at me from a distance. Obviously a small sample size, but I'm always hesitant when I see one.

It's odd which breeds are more hostile towards children. I understand your hesitancy in the years since.

It sucks and I'm sorry for her loss. They are really great dogs.

To those saying she should control her dog, that's true.

But shooting a dog that's acting on natural instincts is retarded.

He's just a POS that wanted to shoot off his gun and then didn't have the balls to finish. It's too bad his dad finished in his mom.

There is no possible way to give advice on this without knowing the laws of the area. See a local attorney.

Forgive my hyperbolic remark, but what do you think would be the appropriate punishment for an individual who does such harm to an innocent animal?

Keep your dumbass dog on your own property and don't allow it on other folks property growling and threatening their young kids.

How do you shoot something in the chest if it is on all fours..?

Dogs always growl at me. I take it as a personal challenge and growl back. Then if they charge, I fight them old school with my hands.

I'm 2-0-1 so far.

I questioned this as well. I imagine he walked right up to him, the dog sat down looking up at him, and he shot him.

This was a very submissive dog. His story is bullshite. If it was true, he would've admitted it to begin with and told them the dog was being threatening towards his son.

My dog was attacked by a neighborhood dog in my front yard. He just ran up on us from a distance. Said dog actually bit me in the incident. Did I shoot the dog? No, I kicked it in its ribs twice and he ran off. Neighbor paid for my medical bills. End of story.

I had a Dalmatian charge me one time and I shoulder tackled it. It bit me on the shoulder enough to require stitches.

I picked it up and body slammed it to the ground though. It came at me again and I put it in a headlock. and it got me on the arm. I slung it and then it ran off.

I call it a draw but it was as close to a L as I ever received.
