Would you dump Eric Gordon for an expiring?

EG is obviously polarizing as hell. Some people just want to get rid of him, some people still have hope that he will be a good contributor and want us to let him play out his contract.
It seems pretty obvious that he won't opt out and that we will have him at the max for two more years.
So, go on record...if you could get an expiring for him, right now, would you do it?
Let's say OKC is desperate, and would dump Kendrick Perkins' expiring along with Lamb/Jones or the like for Gordon/Withey (or something along those lines), do you do it?
Or would you prefer to just let this season play out until the trade deadline?

No.

Kendrick Perkins' expiring along with Lamb/Jones or the like

If Gordon plays D all season like he did vs. the Magic, I wouldn't trade him for an expiring....unless Dealin' Dell the trade ninja can improve this team even more.
I just hope Gordon realizes he can be a part of something special and goes all-in with this team.

I'd definitely lean towards it
That'd really improve our bench
Rivers
Lamb
Jones III
Ryno
Perkins
Isn't a bad bench at all

Lamb or Jones would have to start at the 2 or 3.
And in no way do I actually think OKC would do a deal, I'm just giving an example of expiring + young talent.

I know you don't want to let yourself believe it's possible, but it's possible.

If you said "trade him to the East for an expiring", I'd be on board. But trading him to OKC is complicated. It weakens the Pelicans bid for a playoffs spot while possibly flipping OKC from falling out of the playoff race to fighting for the very same spot we are. You also are potentially giving OKC a Harden replacement, at least a better Harden replacement than Jeremy Lamb. If Fit EG = Healthy EG, you just strengthened one of your main competitors in the West. Unless my medical team with a less than stellar track record assures me Gordon's knee will self destruct soon, I don't think I could do a deal that sends him to OKC.

well we could make this a "would you" thread.
Like...would you take on Gerald Wallace's shittastic extra year if Jeff Green comes with it for EG?

I've been looking at the Knicks and Amare's huge expiring as a possible spot for a few days. Been trying to work Amare+Shumpert for EG. Amare's contract is so huge I don't think we have the contracts to make it work though.

I'd rather keep a somewhat motivated EG because he value will only go up from here on out.
We've waited this long - we may as well wait a little longer. I have a feeling he'll be a legitimate asset this season and then we'll be able to flip him for a legitimate asset in the near future instead of just some schlub like Perkins.

I tend to agree, I'm just making conversation here as its been a hot topic in the past.

Jeff Green is a borderline good fit for me. I wish he were a better shooter. If I'm Demps and I don't think there's a chance of Gordon opting out or getting dumped, you have to make that trade as it's your only option to land a guy better than Gerald Green.

Dump Gordon for an expiring, then in offseason if rumors are true about Kawhi and the Spurs, sign him to a max offer sheet??? If the Spurs match, you at least force them to do something they don't want to do. Would we have cap next year to do something like this?

He looked explosive on Tuesday. Maybe he's back to not being terrible

Did he? I was at the game pretty close up and I didn't see any explosion.
I mean, he definitely looked more svelte and he was playing good defense. Had a nice block.

Isn't Green an elite corner 3 shooter? I know he has a weird career split between other threes and the corners, where he is superb. Between that strength and his defensive potential/versatility, he'd be a great fit. Doubt Boston will trade him for a Gordon package though.

2 years ago he was, 48% from both corners. Last year he hit 35% and 42% from the corners. Being on a worse team can do that I suppose. 2012-13 Jeff Green would be a good fit.

1. For who? If he doesn't improve your roster, you are basically sabotaging a season that may be AD's first chance at the playoffs. A good SF would be nice, but they'd have to be a shooter to fit next to Evans.
2. Do we know what kind of relationship AD has with Gordon? I have no idea, but it's an important question.

No. Someone posted on here that he sat next to AD's dad and the dad mentioned that "he wished Gordon would embrace NOLA and give up on LA" or something like that, but grain of salt.

I don't think the Knicks would want him either because he'd eat into next year's cap space, but contract wise a 3 way with Amare and a pick from the Knicks going to Boston works.
