I use leather strop for 90% of my knife sharpening. When the blade gets off I'll refine it with a diamond wetstone. Has worked for me for a while.

The cheaper one
ETA: I even used it to sharpen a shovel and machete

Who in their right mind would spend $300 on a wicked edge when a lansky is $30?
I have a work sharp. It's great. 30 seconds.

Is it great at putting an edge back on, I had some jackass at the camp this weekend screw up 2 of mine and I need to put the edge back on not just sharpen..

Used to but they can get a little messy and the stones are a bit soft. Work Sharp is pretty much fool proof and makes a very good edge.

Thanks - I may have to try one, I need something simple I am not very good with a stone and don't want to buy one of those cheap V block style sharpeners - I have a couple expensive kitchen knives I would like to sharpen as well.

I have a Work Sharp for most of my utility knives and such. Have water stones for my kitchen knives though. Global medium and fine combination stones and a Shapton 15k water glass stone. Might get the 30k stone just to see what I can do with my Miyabi 600D knives.
