I don't ever recall an LSU freshman on defense, including Patrick Peterson and TM7, that has made the type of impact that Adams has made in completely transforming a defense as a true freshman.
I was at game Saturday and re-watched the game yesterday, and it is literally unreal how he impacts the game (including being ready for the quick snap on 4th down by Ole Miss to prevent a first late in the fourth quarter).
He is truly a pleasure to watch.

Best freshman play in the secondary I've seen since Eric Berry at Tennessee.

Adams is great and one of the best freshman I've seen. But Mathieu was almost strange to watch. Never have seen someone with such a nose for the ball and might not again. Once Adams is able to start forcing turnovers, he will be on that All American level.

..as Adams and Beckwith gained more PT, the defense improved dramatically.
Is a shame that Dwayne Thomas was injured. He was our best overall defensive player when he got hurt.

This is exactly who he reminds me of.

I agree with you for the most part, but Tyrann had a huge impact on our defense his freshman year.

TM7 was pretty big his freshman year toward the end of the season. By the bowl game, we knew we had something special

Yeah, Jamal Adams is a game changer. He is all over the place. Now that Beckwith has become comfortable in his spot, the addition of those two on the D has totally changed it. And Kwon is at another level now as well.
TM only started one game in his freshman year (probably due to all the studs we had), but he completely transformed things when he was in the game his first year. Some stats:
-1st in the SEC and 5th nationally in forced fumbles
-1st in the SEC in fumble recoveries
Led the team with seven pass breakups
-8.5 tackles for loss,
-4.5 sacks
-2 Ints.
-Cotton Bowl Defensive MVP Award in which he recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, one sack and one pass breakup

TM was everything an All-American should look like his freshman year. That strip and recover against Florida is still one of the best plays I have ever seen.

I think the Thomas injury accelerated Adams' involvement a bit. Now that Mills floats and plays multiple positions. Adams is a badass.

he's good but let's not go full tard. He's not close to mathieu as a freshman

Yes it's a shame but No he wasn't . Kwon has been from day one. If DT doesn't go down JA would not be getting many snaps . It's called Depth I love it

He is a leader. I remember after Magee lost that fumble and LSU's defense slowing trotted back on the field looking like their dog died and Adams was all up in their faces trying to get them fired up and pumping up the crowd. It's good to have a player like him

Jamal Adams will go down as the greatest actor to ever put on an LSU jersey.

I agree that Dwayne Thomas was our best defensive player at the time he was injured. I would love to see him and Adams on the field at the and time.
I like adams and he reminds me of TM7. He plays with passion and you can tell he loves being a Tiger.

TM was a dynamic playmaker his freshman year, but Adams is a more complete player as a freshman. Someone may have the quote from the announcers Sat night, but it was something along the lines of Chavis saying Adams is the best freshman he's ever coached...

No doubt...TM7 had such an impact on a team game. It was hard to grasp at the time when he was a freshman, but that dude was special. Adams will be great but TM7's knack for disruption and take aways will always set him apart.

Adams may very well be the best player on LSU's defense this year. That said, Mathieu started making a huge impact in game 1 vs. UNC and never stopped. He had 9 tackles, a sack and forced fumble in that game. I vividly remember asking who in the hell is this #14? He's everywhere. Adams looks like he could be great one, but I don't know if we'll ever see a more impactful defensive player than Mathieu.

THIS. TM was a freak. He created momentum-changing opportunities out of nowhere.

Adams is great, but Laron Landry made a bigger impact as a true freshman - both literally and figuratively.
