OT dads, how do you deal with bullying?

My son is a 6th grader, and younger than kids in his own grade. A 7th grader is wearing him out on social media because his little GF thinks my boy is cute. It's ridiculous, but I hate to see him hurt. He's embarrassed, but not fearful of the kid.
When I was young, the bullies could be ignored, but now they take it to Instagram. Also, you could stand up and smoke or get smoked and end it. Zero tolerance took care of that.
Any advice? Be kind.

Scruffy grew up before those retarded social sites took over kids' lives.
All we could do was insult you on AIM.
Sorry, Scruffy's only advice is to tell him to get off those stupid sites.

What's his schools policy on bulling and social media?

Haven't had to deal with it yet, but try to teach him how to be the bigger person and ignore it. Cyber bullying is similar to internt trolls. Ignore them and they will move on. If it gets bad, intervene with the appropriate authority figure.

Get your son off social media

I have a 7th grader and guess I'd tell him to take a week off of the social media.

my kid was bullied for a similar reason in third grade
when i told the disciplinarian that if would not stop i would instruct my son to use force (punch him in the face) the d told me my child would be suspended.
Now my son is in 9th grade and the same bastard tries to instigate others to give my son crap.
My sons ok with it cause he says most kids don't like or listen to the kid
Still pisses me off because it could have been settled in the 3rd grade

IMO your 7th grade son shouldn't have an instagram. Also tell him to not start anything but damn sure end it if it gets to that. He get suspended for that an I wouldnt care. Prob would actually bitch at the school for it. The zero policy shite is complete BS.

Why not just block the dude on social media? I never get why people don't do that

What can you do?
If you get involved, he'll be embarrassed.
Get school involved, he'll be embarrassed.
Reply on social media, it'll probably make things worse and he'll be embarrassed.
Any way for your boy to contact the bully offline and schedule a meeting in the BK parking lot after school?

Go to the bully's house and beat the shite out of him. Then take a shite on his face. Take a picture of it. Then post on FB/twitter

Not the kind of bullying I was expecting to read about. Ive got nothing.

Best thing to do is get off the media sites. Kids this age know they can say anything on these sites and won't get punched. Bet the little bully wouldn't say this stuff to his face. The other thing is to ignore it. Tell your son to surround himself with people who want him to do well in life and forget about the rest. Also ignore the little shite stirrers that will inevitably come around and say bully boy wants to beat you up etc, etc.

I'm a teacher and many students are being suspended for cyber-bullying. I'd contact the school about it. Also tell your son to not log on to social media for a bit and if the bully confronts him at school then stand up for himself.

Tell him to punch this kid in the mouth and then get him off of social media. If he gets suspended, take him fishing.

Also, teach your son how to shame people on the Internet in a condescending way. It's pretty easy with most of the idiots around here. I'm sure it wouldn't be much harder to shame a 7th grader.
