Women want equal pay? Stop babysitting

It's not the "glass ceiling" stopping women from what they are worth. It's the fact that they aren't worth what they think they are. And it's all the fault of the "babysitting" phenomena. Girls from teenage to young twenties all babysit and this is usually their first "job". Well everyone over-pays their babysitters. Oh you watched my kid for 5 hours ( 4 of which he/she was asleep for) well here's 100 bucks. And then they get in the real world and realize that that's not th way "real" jobs pay and all of a sudden it's a sexist thing. STOP OVER-PAYING YOUR BABYSITTERS. thanks

I'd like to volunteer for this $100/5 hour babysitting gig. You know anybody in the LA area hiring?

I can hook you up with one...but babies won't be the only thing you'll be sitting on.

Oh, you mean something that pays the same as grass cutting?

Sorry you are too poor to pay your baby sitter.

You think grass cutting and baby-sitting are comparably hard? Grass cutting requires gasoline, your own equipment, and the grass doesn't cut itself for 4 of the 5 hours. The OP is kind of right on his point. Baby sitters are often times family friends who get overpaid, rather than a market wage, as a favor.
I don't know if that contributes to the phenomenon of women thinking they deserve more pay or not. But I could certainly see a case of being in for a rude awakening when a girl realizes that her brother's "grass cutting" and her "babysitting" are no longer valued the same in the real world.

$20 an hour? Ha!
$50 from 6p to 12a. Kids in bed by 9p. Good sitters used to do the dishes and pick up after kids went to sleep

I thought this thread was going to be about why employers dont like to hire women. many know they will have kids so they will have to train somebody to fill their role during maturnity leave, and when mommy does come back to work she will be missing time constantly for kid doctor appointments or whatever.
but since this thread isnt about that, we need pics of these babysitters. only 18 yo and over of course

Hell no. One is caring for the well being of human life. The other is pushing a lawn mower.
Would you let the Spanish speaking immigrant watch your child when you were away? Would you let him cut your grass?

This is stupid. I overpay my babysitter on purpose. She always answers my calls, shows up on time, and babysit when I need her to.

I kige this. You get what you pay for. And with it being a one-ff contract labor deal, it's very much a free market phenomenon.

I saw a request for a babysitter for 8.5 hours a couple of days a week. The pay worked out to be $2.50 an hour. Needless to say, it just drew comments and no takers.
