Just be sure to eat your vitamins and say your prayers and something will come along.

That sucks man. I've been unemployed since April. I really hope you find something soon. The first two weeks are kind of nice, but it's depressing after that. I recommend a producrive hobby if you end up being unemployed for a while, I've been making furniture, fish lures and learning woodworking skills. Helps pass the time and you'll learn a skill.

Best of luck to you! I was in the same exact situation at age 33 but married w 2 kids. I'm now 35 and been w an oil company in outside sales for 2 years. I had previously come from finance from a bank for the previous 10 yrs. it was a kick in the GUT so I really feel for you.

I'm assuming they gave you a severance package, so if they did my advice is to take your time and don't rush anything. People don't get opportunities to open up their career choices often. Explore everything!

Financial Underwriting - Were you a credit analyst for a bank? Regardless you probably have the skill set to be one. There had been a shortage of experienced analysts in NOLA & BR. Check in Houston or consider a move if possible.

I was exactly in your shoes last December. I was laid off and on the hunt. Completely fed up with the industry I had dedicated so much to, I decided it was time for a change. I went back to school in a totally different field, however my degree was still applicable. The school was just for the certifications needed to enter the industry.
Knocked it out and immediately got a job. I couldn't be happier now, I'm where I want to be doing what I want to do. I hated my previous job and the company.

Keep your head up and your eyes open. It may take some time, I was out 7 months and it wasn't because of a lack of effort.
